💚 Brentwood Athletics is proud to announce our 2026 Outstanding Athletes of the Year: Diego Argueta, Gabriella Asare, and Cristopher Peralta. 💚

The Outstanding Athlete of the Year award recognizes student-athletes whose dedication, leadership, and accomplishments have distinguished them among the very best in Brentwood Athletics. This year’s honorees have not only excelled in competition, but have represented our community with pride, perseverance, and excellence.

⚽🏸 Diego Argueta leaves behind one of the most decorated athletic careers in Brentwood history. A standout in both Boys Soccer and Boys Badminton, Diego earned the prestigious distinction of being named a United Soccer Coaches High School All-American. He was recognized as one of the Top 100 Soccer Players on Long Island and concluded his senior season as a Newsday First Team All-Long Island selection. He finished his career as one of the Top 3 leading scorers in Brentwood Boys Soccer history, cementing his place among the program’s all-time greats. As a sophomore, Diego played a pivotal role in Brentwood’s historic New York State Championship run, scoring the game-winning goal to help secure the state title. In addition to his success on the soccer field, Diego was a dedicated member of the Boys Badminton team for two seasons, helping lead the program to back-to-back playoff appearances. His leadership, versatility, and commitment to team success exemplify the qualities of an outstanding athlete.

🏃‍♀️ Gabriella Asare has established herself as one of the most accomplished track and field athletes in Brentwood history. A standout in both Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field, Gabriella’s dedication and competitive spirit elevated her among the elite athletes in New York State. She earned All County honors, captured league championships, and was crowned Suffolk County Champion in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. She qualified for the New York State Championships and was recognized among Newsday’s Top 50 Girls Track and Field Athletes on Long Island. Her extraordinary season was highlighted by a 3rd place finish at the New York State Championships in the 100 meter hurdles and a 4th place finish at the Federation Championships against the state’s finest competitors. Through every challenge and every opportunity, Gabriella demonstrated resilience, determination, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence, building a legacy that will inspire future generations of Brentwood athletes.

🏈 Cristopher Peralta has established himself as one of the premier football players to represent Brentwood. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Football Players on Long Island, Cristopher earned numerous accolades throughout his outstanding career. He was named a Gridiron 50 selection, recognized as a Top 50 Player in Suffolk County, and earned All-Region honors as a Class AA First Team Linebacker. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Collotta Award, recognizing him as Suffolk County’s top linebacker. His achievements extended beyond the field as he was honored at the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award Brunch, receiving the John Paci Jr. Iron Grit Award, while also being recognized as a Division I Football Scholar-Athlete. Cristopher’s toughness, leadership, and relentless work ethic defined his career and earned the respect and admiration of teammates, coaches, and opponents alike.

Their accomplishments have brought pride to Brentwood, but their impact extends far beyond the field, track, and court. They have raised the standard for those who will follow, inspired the next generation of student athletes, and shown what can be achieved through dedication, sacrifice, and heart.

Please join us in congratulating Diego Argueta, Gabriella Asare, and Cristopher Peralta on being named our 2026 Outstanding Athletes of the Year. Their achievements will forever hold a special place in the history of Brentwood Athletics, and their legacy will continue to inspire our community for years to come.

Brotherhood. Growth. Leadership.

Brentwood’s My Brother’s Keeper program closed out the year with its annual Brunch and Cover Ceremony, a powerful celebration of the young men who have committed themselves to academic success, personal responsibility and lifting one another up.

Thank you to Legislator Samuel Gonzalez and motivational speaker Anthony Fernandez for sharing words of encouragement and wisdom with our students.
