* WHERE...Portions of southwest Maine and central, northern, and southern New Hampshire.

* WHEN...From 1 PM Sunday to 7 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...The potential exists for snowbands that will bring periods of locally heavy snowfall, which will lead to rapid snow accumulations and extremely dangerous travel conditions. Significant snowfall and periods of heavy snowfall rates will combine with low visibility to create very dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

* IMPACTS...A snowstorm will bring plowable snow to the region with a period of moderate travel impacts expected. Periods of moderate snow and low visibility will be the biggest hazards. The potential exists for snowbands that will bring periods of locally heavy snowfall, which will lead to rapid snow accumulations and extremely dangerous travel conditions. Periods of moderate and heavy snow will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Periods of moderate and heavy snow will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

Although Hurricane Erin is not going to impact us directly this would be a good time to review what to do during a hurricane.

Hurricanes are tropical cyclones that threaten areas of the United States along the Atlantic coastline and the Gulf of Mexico. They can cause extensive damage due to the winds, flooding and even tornadoes they produce. The hurricane season extends from June to November, and peaks from mid-August to late October.

TERMS TO KNOW:
Hurricane Watch - Hurricane conditions are possible within 36 hours.
Hurricane Warning - A hurricane is expected within 24 hours.
Storm Surge - a dome of water pushed ashore by hurricane force winds.
Storm Tide - A storm surge combined with a normal tide.

DURING A HURRICANE THREAT:
1. Stay tuned to radio or TV for updates
2,. Shutter or board the windows in your home
3. Stock up on food and water in case you must take shelter in your home
$. Fuel up your car in case an evacuation is ordered
6. Turn off utilities at the main valves or switches if instructed by authorities

HURRICANE EVACUATION:
Evacuate before you are told to do so if:
1. You live in a mobile home
2. You live in a high rise
3. You live on the coast or near water
4. You feel you may be in danger
If an evacuation is ordered:
1. Leave at once
2. Bring your disaster supply kit
3. Follow advised evacuation routes
4. Keep away from coastal areas or inland water
5. Let others know your plans

DURING A HURRICANE:
1, Take refuge on the ground floor in a small central room or hallway.
2. Get under a table or similar strong object
3. Keep away from windows and glass doors
4. Close all inside doors. Brace all outside doors

AFTER A HURRICANE:
1. Remain in a secure location until you are notified it is safe to leave
2. Do not drive unless necessary
3. Do not drink tap water until authorities say it is safe
4. Stay away from waterways until potential flooding has passed
5. Report down power lines and broken gas and sewer mains to officials
6. Inspect your home for damage
7. Report damage to your insurance agent
