Well today, August 18th, was another amazing day at our growing program, Flourishing with Friends. Our day began as always with a good cup of coffee and fellowship with Friends and volunteers. It was noted that all our Friends were men today. Our Friend, Robert brought his beautiful Martin guitar to show us. He is an accomplished musician and played in a band when he was younger. Our volunteer, Ann celebrated her birthday today and her sweet friend, Stephanie and her husband Darryl brought her gorgeous flowers and a birthday card. Stephanie wasn’t feeling well so she wasn’t with us but she sent Darryl to make sure Ann was remembered today. Ann also had a friend join us for lunch since it was her birthday. We had a presentation on Fall Prevention and family members were invited to attend as well to learn more about this important topic. Nick Whigham, Physical Therapist did a fantastic presentation and answered questions for the group. A great lunch of ham & cheese sandwiches, turkey sandwiches, chips, and watermelon was provided by Tasha and Marissa from Silver Sage. Our awesome volunteer, Windy Mock joined us for craft time. She had a beautiful sunflower craft for us to do. She is always so organized and everyone loves the crafts she brings to our program. Finally, we had the choir from Brenham State Supported Living Center come sing for us. We are so grateful for CJ and her commitment to bringing joy to these amazing individuals through music. What a wonderful and talented group of young adults!
We have to thank our dedicated volunteers who make this program possible. Without each of you, we would not be able to offer this service to our community. A special thanks to Brandon Black for always making sure that the Fellowship Hall is setup for us and stays to assist with clean up every single time we meet. 😇
