Salem VFD has had a busy start to August. On Friday 7/31/26 we responded in assistance to Chappell Hill Vol. Fire Dept. for a single vehicle rollover with one injury reported on 290 by south Texas tack. On Monday 8/3/26 at around 5:00pm Salem VFD units assisted Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Dept. with a 1/2 acre grass fire involving around 50 hay bales, a truck, and a boat also being damaged due to the fire. While units were on scene at the grass fire other Salem VFD firefighters also assisted Meyersville VFD with a single vehicle crash with no injuries reported on Old Navasota Rd.

-Make sure you are buying legal fireworks from a licensed retailer
-Avoid making your own fireworks

On 6/21/2026 Salem VFD responded to a 2 vehicle motor accident along with Chappell Hill Vol. Fire Dept. After we left Lincoln’s parade of hope, Chappell Hill got called out for this wreck, but were unable to respond right away with still being in the parade. There were no injuries and Salem left the scene shortly after Chappell Hill VFD arrived.

Yesterday Members of Salem VFD had the honor of being a part of Lincoln’s Parade of Hope to help send him off with lots of love and encouragement before he undergoes a heart transplant. We presented him with a helmet along with some other Salem VFD goods to help remind him of how strong he is. Lincoln we wish you and your family lots of love, prayers, and strength as you all go through this journey.
