Today, our leadership team had the opportunity to attend a conference and hear an inspiring keynote presentation from Elizabeth McCormick , a former U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter pilot, decorated veteran, and leadership expert.

One message from her presentation particularly resonated with our team: “Practice makes permanent.” It was a powerful reminder that the habits, behaviors, and thought processes we repeat every day eventually become the foundation of who we are as individuals and organizations. Her challenge was simple but meaningful: be mindful of what you practice.

As I listened, I couldn't help but think about the important work happening across our district right now. Following the successful bond election, we have engaged staff, parents, students, and community members in a thoughtful strategic planning process focused on shaping the future of our schools. While there is excitement to move quickly toward our goals, today's message served as a valuable reminder that sometimes we need to slow down in order to move fast.

The strongest organizations don't rush decisions. They take the time to build a solid foundation, establish clear priorities, and develop consistent practices that lead to long-term success. Just as Elizabeth emphasized, what we repeatedly practice today becomes what we are known for tomorrow.

I am grateful for opportunities like today's conference that challenge us to reflect, learn, and grow as leaders. As we continue our strategic planning work and move forward with bond-related projects, we remain committed to being intentional, thoughtful, and focused on building a future that best serves our students, staff, and community.

Thank you to everyone who continues to invest their time, ideas, and energy into this important journey. The work we're doing today will shape the opportunities available to Brenham ISD students for years to come.

I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible success of our first Brenham ISD Summer Meals Pickup.

Because of the hard work of our Child Nutrition team and the support of volunteers, we were able to serve over 11,000 meals to families in our community. That is an incredible impact and a reflection of what we can accomplish when we work together.

Programs like this matter. They ensure our students continue to have access to nutritious meals even when school is not in session, and they demonstrate the heart of Brenham ISD and this community.

Our Summer Meals Pickup will continue every other Monday, with the next pickup scheduled for June 15. I encourage families to register early and take advantage of this opportunity.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible and to those who continue to support our students and families throughout the summer.

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to spend time with three of our Brenham ISD Board members at Appel Ford reflecting on the end of the school year and all that has been accomplished across our district.

Anytime we can come together as a leadership team to pause, reflect, and talk about the work happening in our schools, it reinforces just how much progress we are making and how strong our partnership is with our board and community.

As we reflected on this past school year, I am incredibly proud of the growth, accomplishments, and momentum we are building across Brenham ISD.

This year has been a true rebuild in many ways, and because of the work of our staff, the support of our community, and the commitment of our students, we are seeing that progress come to life.

One of the areas I am most proud of is the culture we are building around attendance and connection. This year, 3,536 students achieved perfect attendance. That does not happen by accident. It happens because our teachers and campus leaders created a positive, engaging environment where showing up matters. What started as an idea grew into a friendly competition across campuses, and more importantly, a shared belief that being present leads to success.

We also celebrated some major milestones as a district. From honoring our 150th anniversary as one of the oldest public school systems in Texas, to successfully passing both a VATRE and a bond, this year reflected the trust and partnership we have with our community.

Investing in our people has remained a priority. Through the support of our board and community, we were able to provide meaningful raises for our teachers. In addition, this year’s Dinner to Remember raised over $200,000, and thanks to the continued work of our Education Foundation, more than $1 million has been given back to our staff and students over the years through grants and scholarships.

We are also seeing incredible growth in student involvement. Participation in CTE, fine arts, and athletics continues to rise, and our students are achieving at a high level. From back-to-back national champions in MCJROTC, to state appearances in golf, to district championships in baseball, and a state title in winter guard, our students are representing Brenham ISD with excellence.

At the heart of all of this is a simple belief. We are preparing students not just for the next grade level, but for life. Brenham ISD is a launching point. Our goal is to give students the confidence, opportunities, and support they need to go out and take on the world.

Thank you to our staff, our families, board members, and our community for making this year one to be proud of.

As we pause this Memorial Day weekend, we take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice allows us the freedoms we enjoy each day, and we are forever grateful for their courage, service, and dedication.

As our Brenham ISD students and staff begin their summer break, I hope this weekend also provides an opportunity to rest, spend time with loved ones, and reflect on what this day represents.

Wishing our Brenham ISD family a safe, meaningful, and relaxing Memorial Day weekend.

We made it.

As we close out the 2025–2026 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on what an incredible year it has been for Brenham ISD.

From the first day of school to graduation at Cub Stadium, this year has been filled with growth, challenges, milestones, traditions, and moments that reminded us exactly why we do this work. None of it happens without the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the effort of our students.

We've put together a short end-of-year reflection video to highlight just a few of the moments and people who made this year so meaningful.

Thank you for your continued support of Brenham ISD. Wishing everyone a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer.

Today, we had the privilege of recognizing two incredible individuals who represent the very best of Brenham ISD.

Please join me in congratulating our 2026 District Paraprofessional of the Year, Leticia Bustos of Brenham Middle School, and our District Teacher of the Year, Mollie Grote of Alton Elementary.

Leticia’s compassion, dedication, and servant heart are felt across her campus each and every day. She consistently goes above and beyond to support students and staff, and her impact is both meaningful and lasting. We are grateful for the care and excellence she brings to Brenham ISD.

Mollie Grote’s legacy is one of love, passion, and unwavering commitment to her students and colleagues. She poured her heart into her work, and the lives she touched will continue to reflect her influence for years to come. This recognition honors not only the incredible educator she was, but also the lasting impact she leaves on our district.

These two individuals embody what it means to serve others, lead with heart, and make a difference in the lives of students.

Please join me in celebrating Leticia and in honoring Mollie’s family as we recognize this well-deserved achievement.

We are proud of both of these outstanding representatives of Brenham ISD and grateful for all of the educators and support staff who serve our students each day.

Weekly Highlights: 5.11.26 - 5.15.26 | Brenham ISD

It is hard to believe we are in the final stretch of the school year. In just one week, we will celebrate the last day of school and honor the Class of 2026 at graduation.

Across Brenham ISD, our campuses are full of energy with award ceremonies, performances, field trips, and celebrations. This is one of the most meaningful times of the year as we reflect on the growth and accomplishments of our students.

As a reminder for families, the last day of school next Friday will be a full day of instruction, unlike previous years when it has been a half day. That evening, we will come together at Cub Stadium to celebrate the Class of 2026 as they take the next step into their future.

We recently had the opportunity to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week and recognize our school nurses for the care and dedication they provide every day. I am grateful for the incredible team of educators and staff who make a difference in the lives of our students.

As we approach summer, we are excited to continue supporting our students and families through programs like Summer Meals To-Go, helping ensure every child has access to nutritious meals throughout the break.

Thank you to our families and community for your continued support of Brenham ISD. We are proud of our students, grateful for our staff, and excited to finish the year strong.
