As the temperatures continue to climb here in Washington County, please be sure to take precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat-related illnesses.

Know the warning signs:
- High body temperature
- Hot, red, dry, or damp skin
- Rapid pulse
- Headache, dizziness, or confusion
- Nausea or vomiting
- Loss of consciousness

Prevention Tips:
✔️ Drink plenty of water throughout the day
✔️ Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
✔️ Limit strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours (10 AM – 4 PM)
✔️ Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning
✔️ Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle

If you suspect heat stroke:
- Call 911 immediately
- Move the person to a cooler place
- Use cool water, ice packs, or fans to help lower body temperature
- Do NOT give fluids if the person is unconscious

Let’s work together to keep our community safe this summer. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and check on neighbors, older adults, and anyone working outdoors. ❤️

11:40AM UPDATE

The National Weather service has extended the Areal Flood Advisory for our area until 12:30 PM CDT. Between 2 to 4 inches of rain has fallen and another inch of rain is expected. Most likely impacts are minor flooding in low-lying areas and areas of poor drainage.

The National Weather Service has issued an Areal Flood Advisory for Washington County, as well as Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Montgomery, and Waller Counties.

The Areal Flood Advisory is in effect until 10:30 AM CDT. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen in the advisory area, with another 1 to 3 inches expected.

Please report any flooding issues to the Brenham Fire Department at 979-337-7300.

🚨WEATHER SAFETY REMINDER🚨
Heavy rain can quickly create hazardous conditions across our community.

Please remember:
- Slow down on wet roads
- Use headlights
- Avoid distractions
- Never drive through floodwaters
- Move over for emergency vehicles

Most importantly:
🚫 NEVER drive through flooded roadways.
Flash flooding can happen quickly.
Just 6 inches of moving water can knock an adult down, and 12 inches can carry away a vehicle.
If you see water over the roadway:
TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.
