Kitsap Applied Technologies continues to function in a Covid-19 compliant safe environment. All employees and visitors should ware masks and follow recommended sanitation processes. Respite programs are on hold until their safety can be assured. Levels of employment have always depended on the work orders of materials shipped from Boeing for processing. 😀

Check out the https://becausewecare1.com/ website it is a good source of information about the options needed to properly serve the wider range of individuals with developmental disabilities there is no single pathway to solve complex challenges. The true measure of the single path approach is the huge number of DD adults who had jobs but who are now sitting at home. The primary tool employed was legal action threats by those who do not support a right to choose for families or the disabled workers.

December is a good time to take stock of our many blessings and accomplishments. We have had over 50 veterans pass through the Veterans Education and Skills Training (V.E.S.T) program at KAT. Many have gone onto Olympic College or other advance training programs such as long haul truck driving. From there they moved on to career opportunities with Boeing and other industries. Some moved into Civil Service placements at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard or other sites. Several veterans have become valued KAT employees. The the dedicated KAT staff enables KAT to meet its contractual obligations with Boeing. The income from the Boeing Contract allows KAT to continue its Daytime Activities Program tailored for the special adult population that Kitsap Applied Technologies (KAT) began serving in 1985. KAT does not stand alone we could not continue without our partners such as Boeing, Veterans Affairs, the Kitsap Great Give, DSHS, the ARC, United Way and many individuals who have contributed time and talent to KAT through the years. Thanks to all, enjoy the Season and we look forward to a great new year in 2018. Sincerely Dick Hurley, on behalf of the KAT Board of Directors.

As we close in on the end of our fiscal reporting year I wanted to comment on the outstanding job done by the KAT staff and our veterans who contribute to our success each and every day. A few years ago we were seriously contemplating having to close KAT's doors. Due to their work in fulfilling our contractual obligations with Boeing and working with the Veteran's Affairs office, KAT looks to finish the year on solid financial footing. This is important because it enables us to plan on continuing to serve our special needs adults with their activity center and work experience in addition to serving veterans transitioning back into the civilian employment workforce. Thank you to our donors of time, money and prayers for keeping the Kitsap Applied Technology Mission alive. Sincerely Richard Hurley on behalf of the KAT Board of Directors.
