Twenty-five years later, we remember the morning that changed America forever.

Today, the Bremen-Rushcreek Fire Department pauses to honor and remember the 2,977 lives lost, including the 343 FDNY firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice. We also remember the law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, dispatchers, military members, civilians, and countless others who answered the call in our nation’s darkest hours.

Let their memory remind us to stand strong and united as one Nation through every challenge.

We will remember.

Fairfield County has officially switched to Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) dispatching, and we’re proud to be part of it!
Check out the post below to learn a little more about what AVL means for our community and how it can help get the closest available units where they’re needed. 🚒🚑

Starting September 1, the Basil Joint Fire District, along with all Fairfield County fire departments, has officially transitioned to Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) dispatching!

What is AVL & How Does It Benefit Our Community?

-Previously, dispatching sent emergency units based on pre-assigned geographic jurisdictions or static station locations.
-With state-of-the-art AVL technology, real-time GPS tracking allows dispatchers to pinpoint the exact position of every fire engine, medic, ladder and rescue in the county.
-When you dial 911, the dispatch system automatically identifies and dispatches the closest available unit, regardless of municipal boundaries or station assignments. While BJFD equipment will be dispatched on every call in our jurisdiction, the high priority calls, such as cardiac arrest, will look to use this AVL technology to decrease response times.

Update: 37 is back open.

Marietta Rd is currently the only access in and out of Perry County on this side. Flooding has parts of both 312 and 37 closed with more rain expected. Please use caution and slow down when traveling Marietta Rd.

We would also like to remind people to not drive through high water. TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN. Our township road crew is currently out working hard to put road closed signs up in all the affected or dangerous areas. We are grateful for their efforts and the communication to keep us informed of areas that are flooded. If you see them out today please be sure to tell them Thank You!

There is high water on Jerusalem rd and State Route 37. Please do not attempt to drive through. We are expected to get more rain this evening and water levels may continue to rise.

As more storms continue into the are flooding is going to increase and areas that did not previously see flooding may start to see some.

This morning our crews were again dispatched to assist with numerous water rescues in Perry County. They are still operating in that area at this time. While they are there we also still have a crew at the station to cover additional runs that may come in.

🚗 If you come across high water, turn around. With the amount of rain we have had recently the water could rise rapidly causing you to become trapped.

🛑 If you see response crews working in an area, attempt to find an alternate route to allow them room to work safely.

⛑️ Water rescue teams and resources are stretched thin all across the state as the Distater Response Plan was again enacted in another county a few days ago.

🚨 These specialized response teams have been working tirelessly to help those affected. We want to 👏 applaud 👏 them as in many times they have come from hours away to help the area they were called to. Many different crews have provided service as they have rotated out personnel after countless hours of work.

Please use caution when going out. If you know you are at risk of flooding soon please evacuate, if possible, before becoming trapped.

Yesterday Bremen-Rushcreek M-541 was requested to respond to assist with relief efforts in Crooksville. The state disaster relief plan was enacted. When this occurs it allows for specialized resources from all across the state to be sent to where needed. This plan is also set up to pull a certain number of resources from each area as to not leave somewhere unprotected.

While M-541 was there it did not leave the township uncovered. We had off duty members who came in to the station the help cover the calls that continued to come in. They were certified to provide Advaced Life Support if needed as well as we have a second fully stocked ambulance, M-542.

These activations don't happen regularly however it shows the cooperation and teamwork available amongst the communities. We are thankfully for the members who showed up on their day off to continue to support the community. Work continues in that area as the flooding and displacement is extensive. M-541 was there for approximately 10 hours before being relieved by new resources coming in.

With the rain from last night and the rain that is coming today we want to remind everyone to watch out for flooded areas. There has also been numerous trees and power lines that have came down from the storms. If you see any flooded areas please avoid them. Treat any down line that you see as being live and contact 911 to report it.
