👏 Round of applause for Officer Sathre on receiving a Life Saving Award last night!

His quick actions, professionalism, and dedication to serving our community made a life-saving difference. We are proud to recognize his outstanding service and commitment to protecting others. 🚓

On April 12, 2026, Breezy Point Paramedic Officer Dan Sathre was leaving Brainerd after a domestic violence transport when a CPR-in-progress call was dispatched near his location.

Officer Sathre responded and arrived on scene at the same time as the North Memorial Health Ambulance crew, immediately integrating into the ongoing resuscitation effort.

Prior to his arrival, a Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office deputy had already recognized the cardiac arrest, deployed an AED, and started chest compressions. Two shocks had been delivered before Officer Sathre arrived. Officer Sathre then took over high-quality compressions as part of the coordinated effort.

Shortly after, the AED advised a third shock, which was delivered. Following that shock, the patient regained spontaneous circulation. Paramedic Officer Sathre continued assisting the ambulance crew with patient stabilization and preparation for transport. We later learned the patient received definitive care and regained consciousness at the hospital.

Today, June 1, 2026, Mayor Roggenkamp presented Paramedic Officer Sathre with the Breezy Point Police Department Lifesaving Award for his role in the successful resuscitation.

This incident is a strong example of what teamwork looks like in public safety. The outcome was the result of quick action and excellent coordination between the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, North Memorial Health Ambulance, and the Breezy Point Police Department.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Sathre, and in recognizing all of the first responders involved in this call.

🔥Flanders Fire 9:00pm update: 1,712 acres and 100% containment.🔥
This will be the last update unless fire activity changes.

For future public information inquiries please contact the Minnesota Interagency Fire Center at [email protected]

🔥Expect the Flanders Fire to Produce Interior Smoke and Heat for Several Weeks🔥

It is not unusual for the interior of the fire to continue to smoke and hot spots to persist. We expect that the Flanders Fire will continue to smoke for the next several weeks. Fire weakened and charred trees are unpredictable in their weakened state and can fall unexpectantly, making prolonged firefighting far inside the fire area dangerous for firefighters. Trees falling on firefighters is one of the most hazardous parts of wildland firefighting. Crews will continue to monitor, mop up, and patrol the containment lines to ensure that no new hazards appear that could compromise the safety of life and property.

If you live near or are visiting the recently burned area of the Flanders Fire, refrain from entering fire affected areas and watch out for overhead hazards from falling limbs and trees. On the ground, burnt out stump holes can lead to trips or falls and can hold hot ash and coals for a long time which could cause burns.

Feel free to report any new smoke or hot spots outside of the main fire containment lines, but please refrain from reporting smoke or hot spots located farther interior of the fire. It is just not safe to send firefighters far interior in large fire areas. Help keep our firefighters and yourself safe. Thank you!
