🎉Congratulations to BBHHS Class of 2026 graduate Ben Mehendale on having his artwork, Made of the Mind, selected as the official image for the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibit poster and brochure. This extraordinary distinction is awarded to just one artwork in the entire exhibition! Previously announced as one of the top 25 works in the state, Ben’s piece was first chosen from among thousands of entries across Ohio to be included in the exhibit’s 250 featured artworks.

This past Monday, 5th grade ELA/Social Studies classes taught by Mrs. Sierleja participated in a presentation featuring a format similar to the popular television show, Shark Tank. The student presentations were the culmination of their economics unit and involved them pitching unique products to parents, staff, and community members serving as King and Queen Bees. The product presentations featured a slogan, business card, logo, capital and consumable expenses, and proposed investment amount.

Each King and Queen Bee then had the opportunity to ask follow up questions and pitch their best investment offer. Thank you to our King and Queen Bee investors which included Mr. Michael Berlin, Superintendent Jeffrey Harrison, Mr. Kurt Keller, Mr. Dean Pontikos, Ms. Sara Taylor, and Mr. Larry Zajac. Congratulations to our fifth-grade students for demonstrating creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills!

How Your Support Fuels Our Success

As our newest alumni head off to their next adventures, it is the perfect time to reflect on the foundation of their success. In Ohio, public schools rely heavily on local support to thrive. The consistent investment from the Brecksville and Broadview Heights communities through local levies and property taxes provides the essential daily operating funds for our district. This funding is the engine behind our highly rated status, allowing us to:

▪️Retain Outstanding Educators: Ensuring our students are guided by the best teachers and staff.

▪️Maintain Premier Facilities: Keeping our classrooms, performing arts spaces, and athletic facilities safe, modern, and running efficiently.

▪️Provide Essential Resources: Funding the supplies, technology, and programs our students need to excel.

A Sincere Thank You

We want to thank all our readers for bee-ing one community and actively being engaged in our financial communications. Your investment is the direct link to our district's top-notch status, and we are incredibly grateful for your partnership in making our schools a source of immense pride. 🐝

Taxpayer Tuesdays will take a short break until the new school year, so look for updates in August! To catch up on our previous posts, be sure to head over to our Taxpayer Tuesday deep dive section on our website located below.

BBHMS hosted its annual Kick-It Day celebration on Monday, June 1st as a fun way to continue to show how they can “BEE the Sunshine After the Storm” for kids battling pediatric cancer.

Activities included kickball games on the football field along with the opportunity to purchase carnival game bracelets, food truck lunch items, and dunk tank tickets with proceeds going towards pediatric cancer research in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

✂️Students also had the opportunity to donate eight inches of hair or participate in a buzz cut through the annual Kuttin’ It & Kickbuzz for Kick It event.

🫶Thank you to all of our amazing business sponsors, community members, students, staff, and families for your incredible support and volunteer efforts in support of Kick-It!

🐝There is still time to support the Kick-It with the Bees 2026 campaign! Visit the link below through June 29th to learn how you can “BEE the Sunshine After the Storm” for children battling pediatric cancer.
