Just a reminder! The Food For Families Food Drive takes place next Tuesday, on December 9th, between 7:00AM and 5:30PM. The address is 701 W Bridge St in Breaux Bridge. Please come by and bring some food or make a contribution. Thanks so much for helping out those in need at this important time.

The St Bernard / St Francis Food Pantry is hosting the annual FoodNet Food For Families Food Drive in Breaux Bridge this year at 701 West Bridge Street on Tuesday, December 9th, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Of course, we welcome all food donations on that day, and we are offering some other options:

• Instead of bringing food to the pantry, a person can click on the Amazon web page https://a.co/duyWRlN, buy food, and have it sent to the food pantry. The Amazon web page offers a shopping list and the opportunity to put items in a cart. Once items in the cart are paid for, they are sent to the food pantry. “Easy peasy!”

• The other option is to make a monetary donation to the food pantry using Paypal or a credit card by clicking on the link:

• Of course, a person can also mail a check to St Bernard / St Francis Food Pantry, PO Box 72, Breaux Bridge LA 70517.

The December 10th FoodNet Food for Families Food Drive in Breaux Bridge was a huge success! Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support! On the day of the drive, we brought in 6,200 pounds of food, and the total collected for the month so far is at least 9,500 pounds. In addition, monetary contributions have been most generous. At this point, we believe we have served about 755 households this year; and we have distributed over 750,000 pounds of food. We could not continue to increase our client household number without YOUR support. THANK YOU!

The Scripps Howard Fund is a public charity that supports philanthropic causes important to the E.W. Scripps Company and the community it serves. This fund, in collaboration with KATC, recently awarded a grant of $1000.00 to the food pantry. Thank you Scripps Howard Fund and KATC!

The Food For Families food drive will be held on December 12th at the Veterans Home in Breaux Bridge between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Food and monetary donations are welcome. All donations will go the St Bernard / St Francis Food Pantry.

The food pantry delivered food to a household in Breaux Bridge that is going through a very difficult time. The person who called asking for food and his fiancé have been in Breaux Bridge only a few days. They were living in Morgan City and they were evicted there. Reportedly, the landlord took their rent money before the eviction. The fiancé is diabetic, had gangrene, and, as a result, had a leg amputated above a knee. She gets $918/month SSI, and they get $281 in food stamps. The moved into a mobile home with the fiance’s niece and two others. The niece gets $535 in food stamps and she has applied for SS Disability. The mobile home has been without power for 5 months, and they get water from a neighbor’s home. They are using a gasoline-powered generator, and lately they have been without gasoline. They have no transportation, have very little money, and have to walk 4 miles to get gasoline.
