Clay County Indiana WIC Providing nutritional support to improve health, and achieve positive health outcomes. Welcome to WIC! The food provided by the program is supplemental.

The purpose of the WIC program is to provide nutritional support during critical times of growth and development, to improve health, and achieve positive health outcomes. The purpose for the nutrition assessment process is to identify nutritional needs of the participant. WIC is a partnership between the WIC staff and you working to achieve positive health outcomes through open conversation. WIC f

ood benefits are given to promote and support the nutritional well-being of you and your child. Each participant must reapply at the end of the certification period and be reassessed for program eligibility. If You Breast or Chest Feed Your Baby, You'll Get More From WIC! Breast and chest feeding parents get a greater amount and variety of food. Lactating parents are eligible for WIC benefits for up to one year. People who choose not to breast or chest feed are eligible for only six months postpartum. Breastfeeding moms are in a higher priority group than non-breastfeeding moms. Help and support are available to lactating people 24/7 by trained peer counselors.

Sometimes babies aren’t “being difficult” — they may just be overstimulated. 💛

Too much noise, activity, or stimulation can feel overwhelming for little ones. Signs your baby may need a calm break can include:
• Fussiness or irritability
• Continuous crying
• Arching their back or becoming tense
• Looking away from toys or people
• Avoiding eye contact

A quiet, soothing environment can help your baby reset and feel safe again. 🍼✨
