Assistant Chief Brett Hansen recently assisted a RAGBRAI participant traveling from Elkhorn to Exira after the individual experienced heat exhaustion.

Brett was later thanked for the immediate, professional care he provided during the situation. It’s moments like this that remind us why our members take such pride in serving others.

No matter how big or small the act of kindness or service, it never goes unnoticed.

We truly appreciate the kind words and the time taken to reach out and recognize our members. It means a lot to know that the dedication and pride our firefighters put into their duties is appreciated.

We’re proud of our members and grateful for the opportunity to serve our community

***Outdated Post*** Thunderstorm chances return to the forecast this weekend. The first will be later Saturday night, with a few storms potentially scraping the northern portions of the area. The better chances come Sunday evening into early Monday morning. If storms do develop, they may become severe with wind, hail and heavy rain the primary concerns.

We are just a few days away from welcoming RAGBRAI to Exira! We understand the impact an event of this size will have on our small town. Please respect all signage and instructions from Iowa State Patrol, Audubon County Sheriff's Department, and all volunteers.

On Monday July 20th the following Roads will be closed to vehicle traffic:
-Washington from Carthage to Edgerton
-Carthage and Jefferson Street from Main to Harrison
-Kilworth from Main to Event Center Alley
-Main from Jefferson to Kilworth

Due to support vehicle traffic, there will be no parking on either side of South Street on Monday July 20th.

In addition, Washington and parts of the side streets listed above will be closed or partially closed for set-up on Sunday July 19th.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation and patience!

📢 Strong to severe storms are expected across IA today!

Early morning t-storms in N IA could produce gusty wind. After these storms end heat builds! Heat index over 100-105 for most of the state!

This afternoon/evening stronger storms develop. Damaging wind is the main hazard, but large hail, a tornado, and pockets of heavy rain are possible.

🇺🇸 What an incredible Independence Day! 🇺🇸

As the fireworks fade and the celebrations come to an end, the Brayton Fire Department would like to thank everyone who celebrated responsibly and helped make the Fourth of July a safe and enjoyable holiday.

We’re proud to serve a community that looks out for one another. Whether you spent the day with family, friends, at the lake, around the grill, or watching fireworks, we hope you created memories that will last a lifetime.

Most importantly, we pause to remember and thank the brave men and women—past and present—whose sacrifice and service have protected the freedoms we enjoy every day. Their dedication is the reason we can celebrate this great nation.

From all of us at the Brayton Fire Department, thank you for your continued support of our volunteers and our mission to serve this community.

❤️🤍💙 God Bless America, God Bless Iowa, and God Bless Brayton! 🚒🇺🇸
