We're so excited to announce our 2026 Jerry Goldberg Skills for Success scholarship recipients!

This year’s awardees are Destiny Thibault of Dummerston, a graduating senior from Brattleboro Union High School and Windham Regional Career Center, and Grayden Jutras, a graduating senior from Hinsdale High School and the WRCC.

Thibault has focused her education on entrepreneurship through the career center’s two-year business and management program and leadership in Future Business Leaders of America, while also running her own small specialty baking business – launched when she was twelve years old. Her plans are already underway for expanding her business post graduation. Jutras is class vice president and soccer and basketball team captain, also volunteering as a referee for local rec teams. He has taken electrical technology classes at WRCC and plans to attend lineman school.

As one of the leading business and community organizations in Windham County, the Chamber established the scholarship in 2009 to support area students who are seeking to further their education in technical training, trade certification or other non-traditional post-secondary education.

The scholarship will provide each student with $1,000 to help offset the costs of furthering their career education. We're so excited to see where their paths lead!

"No Uber? But how do we get to our hotel??"

While boarding their train to Vermont, a Connecticut couple learned that once they arrived in downtown Brattleboro there was no Uber to take them from the train station to their lodging.

Faced with a fun spontaneous trip to Vermont turning into a potential disaster, they called up the Chamber. Fortunately, I was able to recommend our member Don Stolpp of Brattleboro Rides (www.brattlebororides.com).

Idyllic Vermont trip saved. Whew!

The A&P came to Brattleboro in 1915. The business was originally located on Elliot Street. In 1929 a store was built on the west side of Main Street, where the Chamber of Commerce is now. In 1939 the store moved across the street to this location, where it remained until 1974, when the landowner did not renew its lease, and leased the building to a bank instead. This photo is from the 1960's.
