The Firefighters and Support Team Members showed off the fire equipment, provided fire safety materials, and shared recruitment opportunities. The phones are back up.

April 28th at 12:30, your Western Taney County firefighters were dispatched to Northbound 65 highway at mile marker 3 for a motor vehicle collision. First arriving Engine 122 reported 2 vehicles head on with heavy damage and entrapment. Firefighters from Stations 4, 12, 1 and 7 utilized multiple sets of extrication equipment (Jaws of Life) to free the driver of one of the vehicles. Taney County Ambulance cared for and transported 2 patients from the scene. Traffic backups were created by the incident to both north and southbound lanes. Missouri State Highway Patrol and Taney County Sheriff’s Department handled the investigation and provided manpower.

Strong to severe storms are expected across the area this afternoon and evening, with the highest risk generally along and east of the Highway 65 corridor. Today has been upgraded to a Moderate Risk (Level 4 of 5), meaning a few high-impact storms are possible, including very large hail (up to baseball size), damaging winds over 70–80+ mph, and a chance for a few strong tornadoes (EF2–EF3). Storms may redevelop after noon, increase through the late afternoon and evening, and persist into the overnight hours. Localized flooding is also possible where storms track repeatedly over the same areas. Confidence is high that storms will develop, but exact timing and locations will vary. Another round of storms is possible Tuesday, mainly in south-central Missouri, with large hail and damaging winds as the primary threats. Stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to act quickly if conditions deteriorate.
