On May 26, 2026, at 13:20 hours, a collaborative response effort involving SSCFPD, Mercy Emergency Medical Services, Stone County Sheriff, and Missouri Highway Patrol was initiated for a single-vehicle incident on DD Highway near Gobblers Mountain Road. Following an accident, rescue teams employed extrication equipment to access the operator who was initially trapped in the vehicle. Subsequently, the driver was transported to Springfield with non-life-threatening injuries, the severity of which remains unspecified. The incident is under investigation by the Missouri Highway Patrol.

On May 20, 2026, at approximately 22:30 hours, 911 Emergency Services received reports of boats on fire in the Big Cow Creek area of Blue Eye. Multiple units from the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District (SSCFPD), including fire apparatus, rescue boats, and Mercy Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a boat dock fully involved in fire, along with several nearby boats. Fire boats were deployed to move the burning vessels toward the shoreline, where ground crews were able to extinguish them safely. Fire boat crews and ground personnel worked together to bring the dock fire under control.

The dock sustained significant damage, and an estimated 5–6 boats were affected by the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On May 19, 2026, at 21:16 hours, multiple SSCFPD rescue units, the Stone County Sheriff's Office, Mercy Emergency Medical Services, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a head-on collision on Highway 13 near the intersection with State Route 86 in Lampe. Hwy 13 was temporarily closed to all vehicle traffic for approximately one hour. Both vehicles incurred significant damage upon impact. One driver was transported to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Today’s Demonstration

Today the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District hosted an Open House at Station 4 in Blue Eye.
Members of the public were invited to tour the facility, view various demonstrations, and enjoy free food and fellowship with district personnel.
