Sunday evening, a team of your Langford Volunteers worked on improving skills at automobile extrication. When the worst accidents happen, Langford FD stands ready, equipped, and prepared to rapidly remove patients from entrapment in vehicles, using the “Jaws of Life”.

Our crews also regularly train on basic and advanced medical care, so while we extricate the patient, we are able to bring the ER to the patient, providing essential emergency care right where you are. It’s all a part of the system we use, to ensure those who live in, commute through, and visit our district, get the best care possible.

Today, members of Langford Volunteer Fire Fighters are having a great time supporting Oakdale Elementary’s Field Day! 🚒☀️

We love spending the day with the students, staff, and families while helping make the event fun, safe, and memorable for everyone involved. Seeing the smiles, excitement, and community spirit make it all worthwhile.

Beginning on today, May 4, 2026, the Langford Fire Department will begin our annual hydrant flow testing. This test will cover the areas along Baker Lane and Vine Dr.

Testing will be performed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Weather permitting, the testing process should take approximately two to four weeks to complete.

Hydrant testing is a requirement set forth by the Mississippi State Rating Bureau (MSRB) for the Langford Fire Department to maintain its current ISO protection class awarded by the MSRB, as well as to ensure that all hydrants are functioning properly and supplying an adequate water supply in case of a fire in the area. If hydrants are not flow tested annually, this could cause an increase in the current ISO protection class, therefore increasing insurance rates for the area.

After a hydrant is flow tested, nearby residences may notice a slight discoloration to their water. This discoloration does not pose a health hazard and is caused by sediment that has rested within the water lines. If discoloration of water is present, we ask you run your faucet for a few seconds and water clarity should return immediately. Also, before washing clothes, run your washing machine on an empty cycle to flush discolored water from line to washer.

Tonight members of Langford trained on more advanced pump operations as well as hose loads and deployment ("stretching"). These skills ensure every firefighter has crucial skills needed to perform fire attack and fire ground operations with efficiency and using muscle memory. At the end, members prepped the training ground for Saturday's auto extrication field day with a special challenge. These members showed their dedication to the task. Our community is safer because they serve.
