HINDS AND SOUTHERN MADISON COUNTIES THROUGH 1215 PM CDT...

At 1135 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Brownsville to near Ridgeland to near Pearl.
Movement was northeast at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Strong thunderstorms will be near...
Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, Brandon, Gluckstadt, Flora,
Annandale, and Pocahontas around 1140 AM CDT.
Canton around 1145 AM CDT.
Fannin around 1150 AM CDT.
Goshen Springs around 1200 PM CDT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

High winds can bring down trees and large limbs resulting in serious
injury or property damage. Exercise extreme caution when outdoors
during such strong winds...and be especially aware of older trees.

If on or near Ross Barnett Reservoir, get out of the water and move
indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to
10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you
are close enough to be struck by lightning. Boats could be damaged
or overturned in high winds and suddenly higher waves. Move to safe
shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.

At 1104 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Bolton to near Clinton to near Florence.
Movement was northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Strong thunderstorms will be near...
Jackson, Clinton, Richland, Brownsville, and Monterey around 1110
AM CDT.
Pearl around 1115 AM CDT.
Flowood around 1120 AM CDT.
Brandon and Pocahontas around 1125 AM CDT.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is privileged to have the high caliber law enforcement officers that we do.

Deputy Richard Moore is depicted in this photo changing a flat tire for an elderly couple in the midst of downpour on Hwy 49. The selflessness and dedication that these officers display everyday are the hallmarks of a public servant.

Sheriff Bailey and the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department would like to congratulate MSgt. Napoleon Valino on graduating from Crisis Intervention Team training hosted by Hinds Behavioral Health Systems.

Crisis Intervention training  provides our deputies with valuable knowledge and information to resolve incidents involving individuals who are in the midst of a mental health crisis.
