At 409 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Fannin, or near Madison, moving southwest at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
Jackson, Madison, Ridgeland, and Flowood around 415 PM CDT.
Pearl around 425 PM CDT.
Richland around 440 PM CDT.

As a reminder the administrative offices of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

During the holiday weekend our Patrol Division will operate as scheduled.

The administrative offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 8:00am.

SOUTHWESTERN SMITH COUNTIES THROUGH 430 PM CDT...

At 329 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Star, or near Florence, moving west at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
Jackson, Florence, Whites, and Harrisville around 335 PM CDT.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is requesting the public’s assistance with locating Brody Alan Southern.

He is described as a 15-yr old white male with blonde hair and blue eyes. He is 5’11” tall and weighs approximately 120 lbs.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brody Southern, please contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department at 601-825-1480 or dial 911 for your local law enforcement.

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department along other law enforcement agencies responded to Northwest Rankin High, Northwest Rankin Middle, and Northwest Rankin Elementary due to a threat called into Northwest Rankin Middle School.

At this time those schools are under controlled movement while the law enforcement investigation is being conducted. We are working closely with the Rankin County School District.

Our top priority is the safety of students and staff.

Harvey Holly has been found safe and is being reunited with his family.

Thank you to our local and state law enforcement partners who assisted us in reaching a safe conclusion to this incident.

The Rankin County Sheriff's Department is requesting the public's assistance in finding Harvey Holly.

Mr. Holly is a Brandon resident that was last seen approximately 10:30pm on 8/26/26 and suffers from a medical condition that impairs his judgment. He is described as a black male, 6ft 2in tall and weighing 215lbs.

Although his clothing description is unknown, Mr. Holly is believed to be traveling in a silver 2025 Hyundai Tucson with Mississippi license plate RCR531.

The Rankin County Sheriff's Department has contacted the MS Bureau of Investigation seeking the issuance of a Silver Alert.

If anyone observes Mr. Holly or this vehicle, please contact 911 or the Rankin County Sheriff's Department at 601-825-1480.
