Highway 79 Railroad Crossing Closure in Irvington.

CSX will close Highway 79 at the main railroad crossing in Irvington for repairs beginning Monday, October 19, 2026. The closure is expected to last approximately two days.

According to CSX, Highway 79 at the main railroad crossing in the City of Irvington will be closed for repairs beginning Monday, October 19, 2026.

The closure is expected to last approximately two days. Motorists should plan ahead, allow additional travel time, and use an alternate route while the crossing is closed.

The repair schedule and estimated reopening time may change depending on work conditions. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.

NOTICE: MEADE COUNTY BURN PAD CLOSING AUGUST 31, 2026

The Meade County Road Department is notifying residents that the Meade County Burn Pad, located at 800 Moremen Road, Brandenburg, KY 40108, will close effective August 31, 2026.

The Burn Pad has operated at the Moremen Road location since 2023, providing Meade County residents with a location for the disposal of natural vegetative yard waste.

Out of concern for the health and well-being of our residents and the surrounding community, Meade County has made the decision to close the Burn Pad.

Until the closure takes effect, the Burn Pad will continue to accept natural vegetative debris only, including trees, tree limbs and brush, wood stumps, leaves, and other natural vegetative debris.

Household garbage, trash, construction debris, manufactured materials, and other non-burnable items are strictly prohibited. These materials must instead be taken to the appropriate disposal facility, including the Meade County Solid Waste & Recycling Center when applicable.

COMMUNITY INPUT REQUESTED

We understand that the Burn Pad has provided an important service to residents, and we apologize to the Meade County community for the inconvenience this closure may cause.

As the County considers future options for natural yard waste disposal, we are seeking input from the community. Residents are encouraged to share suggestions, potential solutions, and alternatives for the disposal of trees, limbs, brush, leaves, and similar natural debris.
