❗️Power Outages❗️

Meade County RECC has reported several power outages in the area that is pictured from a storm that took place this evening. Locations are just south of US HWY 60 between Miller Rd (KY 941) and Stith Valley Rd (KY 1238) and between Flaherty and Big Spring. To stay up to date on outages, like as shown on the attached picture, please visit https://outage.mcrecc.com. You may also call or text “OUT” to 866-MCREOUT (866-627-3688) to report an outage.

LG&E and Nolin RECC does not have any reported power outages on their websites at this time.

CENTRAL BRECKINRIDGE COUNTIES THROUGH 845 PM EDT/745 PM CDT/...

At 806 PM EDT/706 PM CDT/, Doppler radar was tracking a strong
thunderstorm 13 miles southwest of Carefree Town, moving southeast at
20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Mount Pleasant, Leopold, Alton, New Amsterdam, Roberta, Raymond,
Frymire, Terry, Gerald, and Andyville.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

☀️HEAT ADVISORY CONTINUES THROUGH FRIDAY ☀️

The Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM EDT / 7 PM CDT Friday.

🌡️ WHAT TO EXPECT:
Heat index values are expected to reach 100–107° for at least three consecutive days. Overnight temperatures will only drop into the low to mid-70s, providing limited relief from the heat.

📍 WHERE:
Portions of south central Indiana and north central, northwest, and south central Kentucky.

⚠️ IMPACTS:
Prolonged heat combined with high humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses.

☀️ STAY SAFE IN THE HEAT

💧 Drink plenty of fluids.
❄️ Spend time in air-conditioned spaces when possible.
🌤️ Stay out of the direct sun.
👋 Check on family, friends, neighbors, and those who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
🏗️ If working outdoors, take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.

🚨 KNOW THE SIGNS OF HEAT STROKE
Anyone experiencing a heat emergency should be moved to a cool, shaded location.

Animal Control Officer, who must be available to be contacted during any hours to provide a professional service, if necessary, supports the county government operations, animal shelter, overseas volunteers, licenses, complex public safety, clerical and admin functions, enforcement of animal control ordinances and must qualify for peace officer functions per KRS 61.300.
