Due to the impending winter storm, all New Jersey State Parks, Forests & Historic Sites will close to visitors at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Existing camping reservations will be honored, however campers should be prepared for the conditions.

Parks will reopen to visitors for winter activities once maintenance crews complete snowplowing operations.

❄️ We are enjoying all the beautiful snowfall here at Stokes! Lake Ocquittunk camping area is back open just in time for a winter camping adventure. Our Shotwell camping area is open as well with limited tent sites and Lean-tos available. ❄️

Sunrise Mountain Road will be closed for the remainder of the day (Wednesday 12/10) due to hazardous road conditions from the snow storm. The road will reopen once the snow has been cleared.

PARK ADVISORY: Stokes State Forest

Stokes State Forest cabins will reopen on August 1, following significant renovations.
Reservations will begin to be accepted online on Monday, July 14 at 4 p.m.

Due to anticipated demand, all campground reservations should be made through the State Park Service’s online reservation system: Camping.nj.gov.

This is the quickest and most convenient way to secure your stay, as we can not guarantee staff availability to assist if you call the park office. To avoid wait times and ensure the best chance at securing your preferred dates, visitors should use the online reservation system.

Cabin renovations include:
🏕️ Replacement of rotted exterior log sections
🏕️ Septic tank replacement
🏕️ Re-grading of the area to direct stormwater away from the cabins

Funding for the renovations was provided by constitutionally dedicated Corporate Business Tax revenues in accordance with the provisions of the Preserve New Jersey Act.
