This afternoon Capt. Edgar, Lt. Jepsen, Ofc. Gadaleta, and Ofc. Ramirez participated in the 2026 Special Olympics NJ Torch Run on behalf of the Branchburg Township Police Department to assist in running the Flame of Hope on its journey to kick off the event.

Special Olympics New Jersey provides year-round sports training, competition, leadership opportunities and health screenings to 22,000 athletes and Unified Partners. All of these programs and services are always completely FREE thanks to fundraising events like the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Members of Branchburg PD ran alongside our friends from Bound Brook PD, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, Manville PD, Somerville PD, and the Somerset County Sheriff's Office.

Thank you to everyone who donated to this incredible cause, and thank you to those who participated in the run!

***FOUND DOG***

While on routine patrol in the area of South Branch Road and Chubb Way, Officers picked up this notably dignified doggo (look how pretty she looks in her little jacket!). Our new doggo friend was reminded of the dangers of walking in the street, and taken back to Police HQ where she was given hugs and treats.

If anyone recognizes this little lady, please spread the word to her owner(s) that she is safe, and was turned over to the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter (908-725-0308, 100 Commons Way Bridgewater NJ) to await being picked up by her loved ones.

***Disclaimer: Our beautiful new canine friend is currently under investigation for Theft... Our Administrative Assistant Joan Mathews reported that she stole her heart 😜🥰💕
