We would like to congratulate Firefighter Aymard on her black shield promotion!
After completing fire school, EMT school, all three phases of the probationary firefighter book, a final written and practical test, and endorsement from our Fire Chief, Alex has received her black shield and can now function as an independent firefighter across Loudoun County.
Thank you for your hard work and helping serve the company and community

How to Use a Fire Extinguisher
When operating a fire extinguisher, remember the word PASS.
🔥Pull the pin. Hold the extinguisher with the nozzle pointing away from you and release the locking mechanism.
🔥Aim low. Point the extinguisher at the base of the fire.
🔥Squeeze the lever slowly and evenly.
🔥Sweep the nozzle from side-to-side.

May Is Electrical Safety Month
May is Electrical Safety Month. Take a few minutes to look around for electrical hazards in your home and correct them. Items such as electrical cords under rugs or pinched behind furniture, overloaded outlets, and laptops and phones charging on beds or sofas can expose you and your family to fire.
We were happy to be in theShenandoah Apple Blossom Festival this past weekend! The 1968 Dodge Power Wagon brush truck looked very dapper in the parade. The Power Wagon was in service from 1968 to 2002 at Arcola. It was used to plow during the winter as well. Both the winch and pump are PTO operated. After three years, the restoration was completed last year.
Today is International Firefighters’ Day. We set aside May 4 to recognize and honor the contributions and sacrifices of firefighters around the world, paying tribute to the bravery and selflessness of firefighters who risk their lives every day to protect their communities from fires and other emergencies.
County residents, please be aware of the open burn ban that went into effect today.
REMINDER⏰: Open Burning Ban Takes Effect TODAY, May 1, 2024
The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal's Office reminds our residents and visitors that open burning is prohibited in Loudoun County and the incorporated Towns of Leesburg, Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville, and Round Hill, between May 1st and September 30th, 2024.
These regulations prohibit open air fires or open burning with the following considerations:
• Campfires, no larger than three feet in diameter by two feet in height and used for cooking purposes, are exempt from these prohibitions, provided they are not within 50 feet of any structure.
• Portable outdoor fireplaces and chimineas are not considered open burning but must be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and shall not be operated within 15 feet of a structure or combustible material. Single-family, attached and detached, homes are exempt from the distance mandate but are strongly encouraged to follow this fire safe practice.
• On a year-round basis, open burning (including campfires) is always prohibited in the town limits of Lovettsville, Middleburg, Purcellville, Round Hill, and all subdivisions ("urban or built-up areas") throughout the county.
Fire Marshal Disclaimer: The Loudoun County Fire Marshal may impose regulations, at any time, based upon complaint, atmospheric or other environmental circumstances, to restrict or extinguish any fire that is otherwise permitted according to these guidelines.
Violations and Penalty: Any person who violates the fire code could be convicted of a Class 1 misdemeanor, which carries a penalty of a fine up to $2,500 and up to a year in jail. Further, if convicted, a person may be required to compensate the locality for the full costs of fighting a fire.
Questions regarding open burning regulations should be directed to the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office at 703-737-8600 or www.loudoun.gov/openburning

Company 9 is a part of a combined fire & rescue system in Loudoun County, consisting of 17 volunteer fire and/or rescue companies and the Loudoun County Department of Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Management (LCFR). The system is governed by an Executive Committee, which provides advice and counsel to the System Fire Chief regarding all aspects of the combined Fire & Rescue System within the county.
At Station 9, we have a combination of both volunteer and career personnel from LCFR who staff our apparatus to make sure we are ready to respond 24 hours a day, every day.
