Town of Braintree The Town of Braintree is a suburban community with a strong residential character located ten miles south of Boston. Braintree is operating under Mayor Erin V.

Incorporated in 1640, Braintree has a rich history and a promising future. Joyce The town is ideally situated at the crossroads of Route I-93 (128) and Route 3 for easy access to the Greater Boston area and Cape Cod as well as having excellent public transportation to Boston and Logan International Airport. The community has a good mix of established neighborhoods, small clusters of new homes and

several condominium complexes. There is a strong business base which includes one of the largest regional shopping centers in the northeast; The South Shore Plaza. Attractive office and industrial parks are located in the town as well, because of its ideal location. Braintree has a rich history. Old Braintree was the birthplace of two presidents, John Adams and John Quincy Adams, as well as John Hancock and General Sylvanus Thayer, the founder of West Point. Residents feel that people are attracted to Braintree as a good place to live and work because it has an excellent public school system as well as Thayer Academy and Archbishop Williams High School, and a fine parks and recreation program with the availability of many recreational resources such as Town Forest, Pond Meadow Park, Sunset Lake, Smith Beach, the Cranberry Pond Conservation District, the MDC Blue Hills Reservation trail system, and an 18 hole public golf course. Braintree is a mature community with a broad residential and business base that is positioned for controlled growth in the coming years.

The Petersen Splash Pad is set to open for the 2026 season next Saturday, June 20th. It will be open daily from 10am-6pm (weather permitting). Proof of residency is required to enter and all children must be accompanied by an adult/chaperone.

⚽ Exciting news for Massachusetts youth! A total of 1,104 free tickets to FIFA World Cup matches at Gillette Stadium will be distributed to young people across the Commonwealth. Of those tickets, 704 will be distributed through the Massachusetts Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, while the remaining tickets will be distributed through community organizations serving cultural communities represented in tournament matches and to youth involved with the Department of Children and Families.

HUGE NEWS: Thanks to , 1,100 kids from across Massachusetts are getting tickets to the World Cup — for free.

The world’s biggest sporting event is coming to our backyard, and we’re making sure more young people have the chance to be part of the action. You never know what might inspire the next generation of players, coaches and lifelong fans.

Ivory Street is scheduled to have the pavement milling on Monday, June 15 and Tuesday, June 16. Final paving is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 19. These dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather.

Please make arrangements to have all vehicles off the street during construction hours of 6:30 AM–5 PM. Any vehicle parked on the street during these hours may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid this area during construction due to expected delays.

Last night, the Braintree Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) hosted its 13th Annual Community Inclusion Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations that have made a meaningful impact in promoting inclusion, support, and opportunities for people of all abilities throughout our community.

Congratulations to all of this year's recipients: Sophia Grace Marcel, our youngest recipient; Crystal Evans; Kiddosland Child Development Center; and Rhonda Terrill. Your dedication, compassion, and commitment to fostering a more inclusive community make a difference in the lives of so many.

Braintree Mayor Erin Joyce, Weymouth Mayor Michael Molisse, and Quincy Mayor Thomas Koch joined together to discuss the importance of new growth in supporting municipal services, ways to make permitting more business-friendly, and the value of regional collaboration in strengthening our business community.

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) will host a public information session on Wednesday, June 17 at 6:00 PM at Braintree Town Hall to discuss the proposed two-phase redevelopment of the Logan Express site at 262 Forbes Road. The project includes plans for approximately 5,500 parking spaces, a passenger screening facility, and a new bus terminal. Community members are encouraged to attend to learn more and ask questions.
