We are officially in Week 4 of the Station #1 remodel, and big things are happening!

The heavy demolition phase is scheduled to wrap up by the end of this week. Once the dust settles, you’ll finally start to see the rebuilding and transformation of the station!

We are currently on track for completion around the end 2026 or early 2027.

Thank you for your continued support as we build a better, more efficient space to serve our community! Stay tuned for more updates as we progress.

Better late than never! Last week was incredibly busy for our department, but we couldn’t let another day go by without highlighting some major hard work by our crew.

Nine of our firefighters along with personnel from several neighboring departments successfully completed the intensive CMC Rope Rescue Technician I/II 40-hour course. 🧗‍♂️

This advanced training sharpens our technical rescue skills, ensuring we are prepared for the most challenging and complex rescue scenarios. Thank you to everyone who put in the long hours and dedication to keep our community safe!

Hwy 210 update!!! Next week (May 11-18), the main road construction will begin near the East Brainerd Mall so leave some extra time to get around.

Hwy 210 (Washington St) will be one lane in each direction as crews rebuild the roadway. A temporary signal will be installed at 10th Ave NE and Hwy 25. Truck traffic should follow detour signs around the work zone.

With dry conditions, gusty winds, and low humidity, the National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for 66 counties, including Crow Wing, in Minnesota for today, April 20, until 8 p.m.

While the Red Flag warning is in effect:
🚫Don’t burn brush and yard debris! Escaped fire from debris burning is the #1 cause of wildfires in Minnesota.
☑️Check any recent burning, including campfires, to ensure the fire is out COLD!
⚠️Campfires are strongly discouraged during the Red Flag.
‼️Be safe with ANY heat source that could cause a spark.

In these conditions, any spark could easily cause a wildfire that spreads quickly. Remember, you can prevent wildfires by following prevention tips! If you see a wildfire, get to a safe location and call 911 right away.

Just in time for Severe Weather Awareness Week, we are pleased to announce that the installation of our new outdoor warning siren is complete!

As part of this week's safety campaign, we will be participating in the statewide tornado drills today. Sirens will be tested at 1:45 PM and 6:45 PM.

Outdoor warning sirens are designed specifically to alert people who are outdoors. They are not intended to be heard inside your home or business. If you hear a siren while outside, it is your signal to:
Go inside immediately.
Seek additional information via weather radio, local news, or official alerts.
Take appropriate cover if a warning is active.

Be prepared, stay informed, and stay safe! 🌪️🏡 https://www.crowwing.gov/1490/Crow-Wing-County-ALERT

This past weekend our crew completed our 2nd Quarter Technical Rope Rescue training with several of our partners at Camp Ripley.

Great training, strong teamwork, and always good to work alongside our public safety partners as we keep building skills to serve our community.

Chief Holmes enjoyed a great lunch today with retired Brainerd Fire Chief Ron Johnson. Chief Johnson was the very first chief Chief Holmes worked for when he began his fire service journey in 1995.

It’s always special to reconnect with the leaders who helped shape our path. Thank you, Chief Johnson, for your mentorship and lasting impact on the fire service.
