Hey friends, I realize that I have not been nearly as active in the political realm these past several months as I have been in the past, and I wanted to offer a brief explanation as well as a bit about future plans.
In late 2025, my partner and I found out that we would be welcoming a baby this summer. That alone was enough for me to put any runs for office in 2026 on pause. However, as the pregnancy progressed, our medical team discovered several concerns for both my health and our baby's. Some folks close to us know the details, but overall we tried to keep things light and positive for the sake of our older children and to avoid an avalanche of questions from concerned friends and family.
I'm happy to say, that despite those health concerns, 3 weeks ago today, we delivered a healthy baby boy and both of us are doing splendidly! As our family adjusts to the new addition, we are cherishing every moment, kiss, and snuggle! There are still many things for us to navigate, so I will likely not be fully engaged for a while, but I am here. I am watching, listening, and VOTING! (Gentle reminder to vote in the primary August 11.)
As for future plans, my intention is to focus on the needs of my family at this time, while networking with my neighbors to see where I can best put my energy in the future, should I look at another run for local or state office. Rest assured, regardless of those plans, I will remain a faithful servant to my community in any capacity I am able to.
Finally, I feel this post would be incomplete without a glimpse of our new little guy! I hope this finds you well, and please do not hesitate to reach out with concerns, ideas, or questions.

In honor of Pride, here is the sign I put on my office door yesterday at work. Because, if hanging a rainbow sign makes someone feel safe, heard, welcome, or respected, why wouldn't you?

I want to take a moment to thank Speaker Johnson, for so bravely drawing attention to the fact that so many Americans are vastly underpaid. After all, if 174,000 a year is not enough for our representatives, this must mean that 35,000-60,000 is not enough for their constituents. Now, of course, I am not suggesting that we all need a base pay of 174,000 a year. After all, I understand, as Speaker Johnson does, the sacrifices made by our Congresswomen and men. For crying out loud, they can't even take part in insider trading, these days. No, I would suggest a base pay of 100,000 for the average citizen. Much more reasonable, don't you think? Of course, we may have to make some cutbacks on congressional compensations in order to achieve this... but I am sure these public servants would be more than willing to skip that trip to Starbucks and their avocado toast if it means the people they represent will be able to afford their livelihood. So, thank you, Speaker Johnson for drawing attention to this issue!

Today, we celebrate the women and men currently serving in the Armed Forces of the United States military. As we face unique and disquieting circumstances as a nation, I feel it appropriate to highlight the kind of courage required of our bravest heroes. Our service members are called upon to defend our constitution against enemies both foreign and domestic. The courage it takes to answer this call requires discernment in present times as we are engaged in an illegal war, facilitated by the whims of a cowardly leader with no military experience.
My prayers are with all of those serving, and with their loved ones. May God make a way before you, give you wisdom, and keep you safe, and may God drive out the enemies of peace and freedom, wherever they may be. Thank you to each of our fighting men and women across our military branches, for your courage and strength.

A foreign mining company selling our natural resources to other countries after polluting the watershed of the boundary waters. Congrats on the "big win" Pete! Don't worry, we won't forget it.
