Hop aboard for a family-friendly adventure to Fair Oaks Farms! Explore interactive Dairy, Pig, and Crop Adventure Tours, discover how food gets from farm to table, and learn about sustainability in a fun, hands-on way.

Registration, waiver, and a $15 fee are required. The bus departs Fossil Ridge Public Library at 8:30 a.m. and returns around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9. Bring a sack lunch or purchase food on-site. All ages are welcome!

Recently, our very own Library Director and Illinois Library Association President-Elect, Rene Leyva, was invited to serve as the opening keynote speaker and lead an advocacy workshop at the ACURIL 2026 Conference in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

During the conference, Leyva shared ILA advocacy resources available to library workers and spoke about the importance of advocating for library staff, stakeholders, and equitable access to authoritative information. With participants representing more than 32 countries, the event provided an opportunity to showcase Illinois’ leadership in library advocacy on an international stage.

Celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence with a special community event at Fossil Ridge Public Library District.

Fossil Ridge is proud to present “Threads of Freedom”, an exclusive walk-in exhibition featuring a fascinating collection of flags tied to battles, revolutions, protest movements, patriotism, and defining moments in history. Visitors can explore how flags have served as powerful symbols of identity, courage, unity, and change across generations.

The exhibition will be open during regular library business hours from July 11 through July 18. Complimentary pamphlets with historical information on each displayed flag will be available while supplies last.

This free, family-friendly event is a wonderful opportunity to learn, reflect, and celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with your community. Stop in and experience history brought to life!
