Bradley Beach Police Department

Bradley Beach Police Department On behalf of the Bradley Beach Police Department, we would like to welcome you to our official page The first marshal, Charles A. Alfred E. Leonard A.

POLICE DEPARTMENT HISTORY
The First Police ordinance authorizing the office of a marshal in the Borough of Bradley Beach was passed on April 19, 1893. Bennett was appointed that same month and assigned to work six months of day shifts and six months of night shifts. The first sworn Chief of Police was Charles J. Poland who served from 1935 to 1950. The second Chief of Police was Robert E. Farry fr

om 1950 to 1951, at which time he was elected as a borough commissioner. The third Chief of Police was Harvey T. Gaunt who was appointed chief in 1951 and served in that capacity until his retirement on December 31, 1971. The fourth Chief of Police was Eugene T. Myles who was appointed in 1972 and served until 1988. Trimble was the next chief serving from 1988 to 1992. Then Robert DeNardo from 1992 through 2006. Guida was appointed in January 2007 and served until March 1, 2024. The operation of the police department has changed dramatically through the years, from foot patrols and "on the beat cop" to the use of bicycle patrols and marked police vehicles. The Bradley Beach Police Department currently has seven marked police vehicles and five unmarked vehicles outfitted with the latest equipment such as mobile computer terminals, Automated License Plate Readers, video camera recorders, speed radar units and life saving CPR/defibrillator packs. As the Borough has grown, so has the police department. The department currently has eighteen full time officers. The structure of the department has grown as well, with officers assigned to the detective bureau, bicycle patrol, traffic safety, community services and the D.A.R.E. Program. Within the department there are four full-time police dispatchers and a secretary. School crossing guards, police matrons and special officers complement the department and provide additional security to our children during school hours and our beachfront population during the summer. The Bradley Beach Police Department has come a long way since 1893 and will continue to meet the needs of the residents and protect and serve the community. For emergencies call the Bradley Beach Police Department at (732)-775-6900 or call 9-1-1. Stay tuned to your local Radio Stations for evacuation and emergency information. An automated Emergency Notification System is also available to you. You may receive alerts about emergencies or other important community news on your phone and email by signing up. The sign up form is available to you at Borough Hall or the Office of Emergency Management, as well as our Police Headquarters. SOCIAL MEDIA POLICY

Today several of our officers joined with a few teachers and students from the Bradley Beach Elementary School and ran the stretch of our town in support of the 43rd Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics New Jersey.

Our officers have supported this continually for more then two decades, with officers carrying the torch as it passes through Bradley Beach. The run itself features more than 3,000 officers taking to the streets of their local communities, split up into 26 separate legs with some starting as early as 4:45 a.m.! We run to raise awareness for Special Olympics New Jersey.

The Annual Torch Run preceded the Special Olympics New Jersey’s Summer Games, which took place this past weekend at The College of New Jersey.

We are happy to welcome our newest Patrolman, Samuel Forgac, to the Bradley Beach Police Department.

Ptlm. Forgac began his career with us as a Special Law Enforcement Officer Class One in 2024 and after the summer season was awarded a spot as one of our Class Two Officers in 2025. Samuel's older brother, Adam Forgac, and his twin sister Nina both worked for this agency in the past and were also outstanding officers.

Ptlm. Forgac has been an asset to our department and we are excited to have him join our law enforcement family.

This past week, Det. Gregory Pancza and Retired Captain Charles Zulla began their 300-mile journey from New Jersey to Washington, D.C., as part of the 2026 Police Unity Tour. This event is held annually during Police Week, and honors the memory of fallen law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

We are grateful and proud that each year we have officers participate in this event in honor of our own fallen officers:

The Bradley Beach Police Department is proud to announce that Sergeant Michael Tardio has earned the prestigious FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award.

This distinguished accomplishment is presented to individuals who have successfully completed the organization’s comprehensive three-tiered leadership program: The Supervisor,
Command and Executive Leadership Institutes. Together, this series focuses on essential areas including ethical leadership, community engagement, organizational effectiveness, implicit bias awareness and emotional intelligence. Earning this recognition reflects a personal investment in becoming a more principled, effective and forward-thinking law enforcement leader.

FBI-LEEDA courses equip our officers and supervisors with the skills, tools and networks needed to serve the Bradley Beach community at the highest level. Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Michael Tardio on this outstanding achievement!

This year we're getting an earlier start on the summer!

Last week we began our preparation by training this year's Special Law Enforcement Officers Class Ones. Sgt. Michael Tardio and Ptlm. Daniel Crow led the agency training, and Mayor Al Gubitosi swore them in, officially starting off their police career.

It all begins with recruiting, and we are proud to participate in job fairs at both colleges and high schools. After the selection process the officers receive the agency training with us and are then sent off to their two week training at the Monmouth County Police Academy, which starts in May. Once they graduate you will find these new officers on the beachfront and Main Street, helping the community and enforcing our local ordinances.

As a reminder, last year the town adopted a new paid parking method, through the "Park Mobile" app. We have two new GEM cars equipped with automated license plate readers that will assist in locating violators on the beachfront, and this same equipment is used on patrols cars for parking and motor vehicle enforcement year round.
