Borough of Bradford Woods

Borough of Bradford Woods Bradford Woods Borough was incorporated in 1915 As you drive through the Borough you will be captivated by the fact that no two homes are alike.

This Community started as a summer get-away and has developed into a beautiful Borough that over flows with history. Many of the homes along with their unique personality have their own history. Bradford Woods, over the years, passed through a process of legislative changes common to many American communities. While only a few simple laws were necessary at the time of the establishment of the Boro

ugh, subsequent growth of the community, together with the complexity of modern life, has created the need for new and more detailed legislation for the proper function and government of the Borough. From the very first ordinances of no unruly behavior and not wearing bathing suits on the main street to the very modern addressing of Storm Water Runoff you will find in this Borough an orderly collection of legislation that has enhanced the protection of all land owners. We are fortunate to have our own local elementary school as pictured on this page along with a beautiful natural Reserve and lake. Bradford Woods portrays the expression, "the best gifts come in small packages".

PA law requires everyone under the age of 12 to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle.

But, just like a seat belt protects you in a vehicle, a helmet protects you while bicycling.

Don’t skip that life-saving piece of equipment. No matter your age – always wear a helmet.

And make sure it fits – get info and steps on how to check for a proper fit at NHTSA.gov/bicycles.

Bradford Woods Elementary School has proudly earned the designation of Heart Safe School. This recognition is part of the North Allegheny Health Services Department's ongoing initiative to ensure all schools in the North Allegheny School District are designated as Heart Safe Schools through the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and Project Adam. Staff at BWE volunteered to join the sudden cardiac arrest response team, dedicating time from their morning workday to complete compression-only CPR and AED training. The BWE team, alongside McCandless/Franklin Park EMS personnel, participated in a sudden cardiac arrest drill. Today, the school was officially presented with a commemorative banner and certificate.

Under PA's distracted driving law (known as Paul Miller's Law), you will be pulled over for using a phone while driving, even at a red light. πŸš”

Let's face it, we've all been irritated by someone on their phone while driving. Not only are we irritated, but it is extremely dangerous. Starting Friday June 5th you can be cited for it.
Paul Miller's Law goes into effect and we, along with neighboring agencies, will be cracking down.

Per the law, section 3316.1 of the vehicle code, you cannot even HOLD your phone while driving, or reach for it if it falls. You can't use it while stopped at a redlight, stop sign...at all. HANDS FREE ONLY!!!

Do your part and don't become part of the problem. Put your phone down and drive safely.

Reply to text messages and missed calls when you get to your destination. It's not that important. Stay safe out there!
