All personnel should remain vigilant, follow the direction of security forces, and report any suspicious activity immediately. The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Tampa recently demonstrated the immense value of a modern, forward-deployed force while executing their mission to control, secure, and defend our nation’s maritime approaches. Patrolling the Eastern Pacific as part of Operation Pacific Viper, they successfully interdicted a smuggling vessel, seizing 1,925 kilograms of drugs valued at over $31.9 million.

Since launching Operation Pacific Viper in early August, we’ve interdicted over 200,000 pounds of co***ne along routes from South and Central America. This mission is a powerful example of how our maritime fighting force is actively scouring drug smuggling routes, dismantling narco-terrorism networks, and stopping deadly narcotics before they can reach U.S. shores. It’s a testament to the character and competence of our highly-skilled workforce, who take on immense responsibility to protect the Homeland.
