Come along on our next Riparian Walk at Indreland Audubon Wetland Preserve!

Wander and wonder with us on Tuesday, May 26, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. for an evening stroll through this beautiful restored wetland, bird sanctuary, and beaver hub.

We will meet at the entrance to the wetland (45.680975, -111.020447). Parking is available in the lot behind Cafe M and on Village Downtown Blvd across Broadway Ave.

Sign up on our events page by using the link in our bio.

We look forward to sharing stories among our watershed community. This walk should give us a window into the lives of migrating birds, water-loving plants, and maybe even some busy beavers. Hope to see you there!

Be sure to bring water, appropriate layers, and sturdy shoes. Please note that dogs are not allowed on this Riparian Walk. If you have any concerns, feel free to email [email protected].

We love our dogs and we love our trails! 🐕 Let's give both a little springtime TLC. 🌿

Dog waste is one of the sneakiest sources of bacteria and nitrogen in local watersheds, and spring is prime time to do something about it. 🐾 Dog waste has different microbes and nutrients than wildlife waste, and doesn’t break down quickly during our dry summers. Whatever was hiding under the snow is probably still out there! 💩

This Thursday (May 7th), from 4-6 p.m., GWC, the Gallatin Valley Land Trust and Outside Kind are teaming up for our Annual Dog P**p Cleanup to get our beloved community trails ready for summer.

We will send you the details.

🥾We still need more volunteers at the Galligator Trail!

If you’re scooping on your own time, we recommend Sypes Canyon, Tuckerman Park, Painted Hills, Mount Ellis, Bozeman Pond/Dog Park, or Highland Glen. Help us protect the watershed from harmful bacteria and excess nitrogen!

Alternative date if it rains: Thursday, May 14, 4-6 p.m.

We have added a new opportunity to Harvest Willows this coming Wednesday, April 29, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. This is likely our last chance to harvest before the spring leaf-out, and we have a big goal: we need a few THOUSAND cuttings to plant at our restoration sites this year.

We can’t do it alone! Come spend some time outdoors and help us restore our local streams and wetlands! Sign up here: https://secure.lglforms.com/form_engine/s/VArQ_tKE48JUvhfcvN8aBA

Cleanup + celebration? Yes, please. 🎉
On Saturday, May 16, we're gathering volunteers across the Lower Gallatin Watershed to pick up trash from our streams, wetlands, and trails before summer gets here.

Keeping trash out of our watershed benefits water quality, wildlife, and reduces pollution impacts downstream, protecting the health of our home.

The cleanup will go from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the celebration will begin at 12:30 p.m. with announcements and prizes at 1 p.m. We will wrap up with a party at the Bozeman Pond Pavilion (prizes and food, and beverages included 👀).

Launching the 2026 River Restoration Action Team! 🐀

On April 9th and 10th, 60 volunteers attended R.A.T.s training with GWC at a Trout Unlimited project on Mandeville Creek. Volunteers learned how to harvest and stake willows, plant trees, install browse protection fencing,, and build and maintain Beaver Dam Analogs (BDAs). 🦫Many volunteers returned from last year!

GWC and Trout Unlimited staff collaborated to engage everyone in hands-on restoration, stream ecology, and help volunteers connect stream and riparian health to water quality. Each volunteer is committed to attending at least 4 restoration days this season, which will give us the capacity to complete our upcoming restoration projects this season! 🦋

ander and wonder with us at Cherry River Fishing Access! 🥾🔍🌿🦆

Join us on Tuesday, April 28, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. for an evening stroll along the East Gallatin River. We’re looking forward to sharing some ecological stories with our watershed community, from the vibrant cottonwood catkins to aquatic insect hatches, to the arrival of migratory birds of prey and shorebirds nesting in the area.

We had a wonderful time kicking off the season with a walk through Glen Lake Rotary Park in March. The photos in this post are from that outing, just upstream of Cherry River. We can’t wait to see how the landscape has changed in the past month.

We will meet at the Cherry River Fishing Access parking lot (45.710982, -111.050866). Please note that a Conservation License from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks is required at this site.
