Weekend plans? How about hiking, scavenger hunting, and maybe checking off a little Cub Scout progress with prizes.

Join us this Sunday, September 13, for Mountain Valley District’s free Scavenger Hunt Hike at Hyalite. We’ll meet at the Blackmore Lake Trailhead parking lot at 1 p.m. From there, families can tackle the scavenger hunt and hike at their own pace.

Current Cub Scouts may be able to complete part or all of their required Outdoors Adventure. Each rank has its own age-appropriate Adventure focused on skills like preparing for a hike, carrying the Cub Scout Six Essentials, exploring nature, using the buddy system, and practicing Leave No Trace.

Not a Scout yet? Come anyway! The event is open to all elementary-aged kids. Just register as a guest. All youth must attend with an adult.

This weekend MVD Scouts and Cubs practiced reverence by presenting the flag to Gold Star families and handed out flags to parade observers.
