Our newest park area is here! On Friday, we hosted a ribbon-cutting, celebrating the opening of Southwood Park. This 23-acre park, located at Stucky Rd and S 17th Ave, is being built in phases. Future phases are looking at including a skatepark, pickleball, and tennis courts, and a dog park will soon be complete.

Said Mayor Morrison at the ribbon-cutting, “It is clear that park spaces are inextricably linked to the place of Bozeman. It is something that we value deeply… And as you look around from this vista, you can see that this is exactly the type of place where we’d want a park of this style and this scale.”

It’s beautiful out! Come enjoy the new chairs, picnic tables, playground, and fields.

We are excited to welcome everyone back for another great summer at Bozeman's pools and have some important updates to share.

Bogert Pool will open on Sunday, June 21. The Swim Center summer schedule will begin on Tuesday, June 23. Current hours for both facilities are available online at www.bozemanmt.gov/pools and printed schedules are available at the front desks of each pool.

Before transitioning to summer operations, the Swim Center will undergo its annual maintenance closure. The facility will close at 8:40 p.m. on Friday, June 12, and the pool will be drained for cleaning and routine maintenance to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all users.

During the closure, Aquatics Managers will also be training and certifying more than 30 lifeguards. This training includes a 30-hour lifeguard certification course, followed by three additional days of facility-specific training at both the Swim Center and Bogert Pool. In addition to learning daily operations and responsibilities, lifeguards receive extensive instruction on emergency action plans unique to each facility and participate in team-based emergency response scenarios.

Thank you for your patience during the annual maintenance period and for your continued support of our aquatic's programs. We look forward to seeing you at the pool this summer!

There are still a few days left to complete the Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP) Survey! We hope you know by now that we are updating the 2016 UFMP to serve as an overarching guiding document for all Forestry Division operations, planning, and public outreach. The new Plan will set priorities for tree planting, maintenance, staffing, budgeting, and community engagement.

The survey consists of approximately 30 questions and prompts to gather insights about your experiences with, and priorities related to, trees in Bozeman. Please complete by June 8!

Visit engage.bozemanmt.gov/urbanforest to complete the survey today!
