Construction is underway on Suncoast Parkway!

Work has begun on the Suncoast Parkway Resurfacing and Safety Improvements Project from north of Van D**e Road/County Road 685A to the Hillsborough County line.

Crews will resurface the roadway, install new bridge joints, make drainage improvements and complete other safety enhancements along this three-mile stretch of Suncoast Parkway.

The improvements will provide drivers with a smoother roadway, enhance safety and help extend the life of the roadway and bridges.

Please use caution when traveling through the work zone and watch for construction activities.

Our Social Media Manager is on vacation this week, so we're stepping in with a message she'd want you to see: Don't Drive Drowsy. 😴

It's Florida's Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, and here's the thing... nearly 1 in 3 drivers admit to having fallen asleep behind the wheel, and more than half say they've driven while drowsy. If you've ever pulled into your driveway and barely remembered the drive, or je**ed awake to the sound of rumble strips, that wasn't just tired. That was impaired driving.

A few signs you're more at risk than you think:
- Running on less than 6-7 hours of sleep
- Driving between midnight and 6 am, or mid-afternoon
- Taking medication that causes drowsiness
- Driving alone on a long, monotonous stretch

Get real sleep before a long drive, bring a companion if you can, and take a break every few hours or 100 miles. That's exactly what our service plazas are there for; pull off, grab a coffee, stretch, switch drivers, and get back on the road rested.

Everyone gets home safe when everyone stays alert. Rest up out there. 🛣️

🚧Construction Series Alert🚧 What you see is only a piece of the story.

Construction continues on the Florida’s Turnpike and Surface Street Improvements Project from Hainlin Mill Road/SW 216 Street to U.S. 1. While drivers see crews and equipment working throughout the day, some of the most important work happens when traffic is lighter.

WHAT YOU MAY SEE:
During the day, crews are working on construction activities that support the ongoing Turnpike improvements.

WHAT YOU MAY NOT SEE:
At night, crews are completing structural work beneath and around bridges, allowing this work to move forward while reducing impacts to daytime traffic.

Day or night, each stage of construction brings the project closer to delivering roadway, bridge and interchange improvements for drivers and the surrounding community.

🚧Construction Series Alert🚧 Ahead of Schedule at Fortune Road!

Another milestone is complete on the Florida’s Turnpike Widening Project from Partin Settlement Road to Osceola Parkway!

Crews recently installed all four steel girders for the new westbound Fortune Road bridge, completing this phase of bridge construction nearly a month ahead of schedule.

The new bridge is part of the larger Turnpike Widening Infrastructure Initiative, which will add lanes, reconstruct several bridges and improve traffic flow and connections throughout the corridor.

Work continues on the Fortune Road bridge and other improvements throughout the project, which is anticipated to be completed in early 2031.
