On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 1708 hours, RBPD was assisting Border Patrol Agents in following up on information that workers at construction site in Rocky Boy were not here legally. Border Patrol Agents attempted to make contact with them to verify their information. They would not stop for Border Patrol agents and an RBPD Officer conducted a traffic stop on a truck on Upper Box Elder Road. Two Mexican males ran from the stop into a field. Border Patrol Agents chased them on foot, but were unable to catch up with them before the reached the thick brush in the Lower Box Elder Road area. Multiple Border Patrol Agents, RBPD Officers, and Choteau County Deputies surrounded the area, then searched the brush area on foot and drones were utilized.
Residents in Lower Road area near the search were made aware of the incident.
Unfortunately the males were not located and at approximately 2100 hours, Border Patrol called off the search. One male was wearing a red shirt, the other was wearing a blue shirt, and both were wearing blue jeans. Their identity is unknown at this time. Both males were approximately 5'5" and 150 lbs.
Neither male had a weapon and there is no reason to believe there is any immediate danger to the public, however, all Lower Road residents are still advised to lock their doors and windows.
Officers will be patrolling the Lower Road area throughout the night.
If anyone sees these males or has information on their whereabouts, contact RBPD (406-395-4513).
