Men's mental health matters.

Many men are taught to handle stress, anxiety, depression, or difficult emotions on their own. But reaching out for support is a sign of strength—not weakness.

This Men's Mental Health Month, take a moment to check in with yourself and the men in your life. A simple conversation, a supportive text, or asking "How are you really doing?" can make a difference.

💙 Prioritize sleep, movement, and healthy coping strategies.
💙 Make time for connection with friends and family.
💙 Reach out for support when you need it.
💙 Check in on the men you care about.

You don't have to carry everything alone. Support is available, and seeking help is a powerful step toward better health.

Did you know that spending time together as a family can support mental, emotional, and physical well-being?

That's why we're excited to support Wood County Health Department's Growing Together, a month-long initiative connecting Wood County fathers and father figures with local events, activities, and resources to share with their kiddos.

Check out the upcoming events and find a new way to connect, learn, and grow together this June. 🌱 Then go to woodcountyhealth.org/resources-for-healthy-living to learn more about the celebration event on June 28!

Sunny days are meant for making memories—but they can also mean increased exposure to harmful UV rays. This week's forecast shows high to very high UV levels, which means your skin can burn faster than you might think.

A few ways to protect yourself and your family:

✔️ Apply and reapply sunscreen (SPF 30+)
✔️ Wear sunglasses and a hat when possible
✔️ Seek shade during peak sun hours
✔️ Stay hydrated while enjoying the outdoors

And while you're thinking about sunscreen, take a moment to check your skin. If you notice a mole or spot that is new, changing, or doesn't look quite right, give us a call! 419-354-9049

☀️ A little prevention today can help keep your skin healthy for years to come.

it may be time to speak with a healthcare provider.

The Wood County Community Health Center is here to support your health this allergy season and beyond.

Did you know your primary care provider can help check for signs of skin cancer, including melanoma? ☀️

Skin checks aren’t just something done at a specialist’s office. During routine visits, your provider can evaluate concerning spots, discuss changes in your skin, and help determine if further testing or referral is needed.

Early detection matters — especially for melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer.

Watch for:
🔍 Spots that change in size, shape, or color
🔍 Moles with uneven borders
🔍 New or unusual skin changes
🔍 Areas that itch, bleed, or don’t heal

If something doesn’t look or feel right, don’t ignore it. Bringing it up during a primary care visit can be an important first step.

DId you know mental health support doesn’t always start in a therapist’s office. Sometimes it starts during a regular checkup?

During Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s a good reminder that Wood County Community Health Center helps care for both physical and mental health — because stress, sleep, anxiety, burnout, and emotional wellness can affect the whole body.

That means conversations about mental health can happen as part of everyday care, in a familiar place, with a team focused on whole-person health. ❤️

Care close to home means caring for the whole you.
