Today, we celebrate National Police Woman Day!

We’re proud to recognize the dedicated women of the Bowling Green Police Department who serve our community with courage, compassion, and professionalism every day.

From patrol and investigations to leadership and community engagement, these women continue to make a difference while paving the way for the next generation of women in law enforcement.

While no member of our Community Engagement Team hopes to become one for a very long time, we still know just how special grandparents are!

We were proud to join our friends at Potter Gray Elementary this week to help celebrate Grandparents Day.

From visiting with friends and chatting about the future (shoutout to our future mailman and all future public servants), to sharing lunch and even directing a little traffic together in the rain, we enjoyed every bit of it.

Thank you, Potter Gray, for having us, the great pictures and all the work you do to make every day special. Also a big thank you to all the grandparents who make such a difference in the lives of their families. We loved celebrating with you!

PIO Ronnie Ward shared a powerful message today at Legacy Christian Academy, reminding us that courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s deciding that something else is more important than your fear.

On 9/11, countless first responders, service members, and ordinary Americans made that choice. They stepped forward, served others, and put their own safety aside for something greater.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the courage that continues to inspire us.

Leadership isn’t always about being in charge. Sometimes it’s simply being a good friend, encouraging someone else and choosing kindness.

We were honored to be invited to the Jennings Creek Elementary School Leadership Breakfast, where Sgt. Brad Hogue spoke with students about what it means to be a leader, a good friend and why the way we treat people matters.

But the students didn’t just talk about leadership , they showed it.

Whether we were playing Gaga Ball, basketball or other games, we watched students encourage one another, support their classmates and make sure everyone was included.

We may have been invited to talk about leadership, but these kids gave us a pretty good lesson in it too.

Thank you, Jennings Creek, for inviting us and for raising up some outstanding young leaders.

Wherever and whenever there’s an opportunity for the BGPD to show up, engage and serve our community, we’re there!

Officer Butler visited Oakland Elementary School earlier today, where he talked with students about how the BGPD serves our community, the role of police officers in and even demonstrated some of our equipment.

There were plenty of smiles and laughs — and even a visit from a few cuddly friends along the way!

Thank you to Oakland Elementary for inviting us and to these awesome first graders for bringing ALL the energy!

Today, we take a moment to remember September 11, 2001, and to honor the lives that were tragically lost, as well as the families whose lives were forever altered. We reflect on the incredible courage displayed amidst such profound sorrow.

We also express our deep gratitude to the first responders, service members, and everyday individuals who made sacrifices on that day and continue to serve our country with unwavering dedication.

May we hold these memories close and ensure that their legacies are never forgotten.

It’s LS Fest weekend, and the festivities kicked off with the parade last evening! Members of the BGPD were happy to assist with escorting the parade and securing the route.

With LS Fest bringing plenty of visitors to Bowling Green, expect some extra traffic on our roadways this weekend. Please pack a little patience, show some kindness to your fellow drivers, and enjoy the weekend.
