Do you know what happens when a snake gets stuck on a glue trap?

Unfortunately, we get calls like this from time to time. In this video, Officer Miller walks us through how she safely removes a snake from a sticky pad using olive oil and gives a little insight into why glue traps aren’t always the best choice for pest control.

This sweet boy was found today on Everwood Court. 🐶💙

He is a male Pit Bull mix, not neutered, and unfortunately does not have a microchip. Despite being a little lost, he has been very sweet and friendly with us!

🐾 Maggie’s story has a happy ending! 🏡💙

Remember Maggie/Roxy, the sweet bulldog we were searching for her owner? We’re excited to share that Maggie has officially found a new home! 🥹🐶

In this video, we’re also breaking down a little bit about what happens when a stray dog comes into our care. Bowie Animal Control is not an adoption facility, and our primary responsibility is to reunite found animals with their owners. Once an animal has completed its required stray hold and becomes the property of the City, we determine the best next step for that animal.

When we’re able to, we work with Bowie CLAW to help find suitable homes for animals rather than having them transported to the shelter. 💙

We aren’t able to do this for every animal that comes through our doors, but when the opportunity is there, we’ll always try to give an animal a chance at a new beginning.

And for Maggie, that opportunity came through. 🥰🏡

We’re so happy this sweet girl gets to start her next chapter!

Magic is missing from the Filbert Lane area and has been missing since yesterday. He was most recently seen on a Ring doorbell camera along Woodhaven Lane.

The Great Goose Chase 🪿 | Part 1

We’ve received multiple calls about an injured goose, so naturally… we went looking for him! 👀🪿

In this video, we’re giving you a little behind-the-scenes look at what happens when we receive reports like this and why wildlife rescues don’t always happen in one quick visit.

We’re concerned that fishing line or other debris may be caught around his legs, which can cause serious injury and interfere with an animal’s ability to move safely.

And before anyone asks, yes… we ARE doing something. 😂 Sometimes helping wildlife takes patience, observation, and multiple attempts. This goose is not exactly cooperating with our plans!

🎣 Please remember to properly dispose of fishing line, hooks, and other fishing equipment. Wildlife can become tangled or injured by discarded line, and what seems harmless to us can be dangerous to them.

We’ll keep you updated as we continue our efforts to safely help this guy.

🐾 FOUND DOG: Meet Maggie! 🐾

We recently found this sweet Bulldog at the dog park in Bowie, and we’re hoping the power of our community can help us get her back home! 🏡💕

We’ve decided to call her Maggie while she’s with us. She is a female Bulldog, believed to be under 3 years old, and unfortunately, she does not have a microchip. We are currently unsure whether she is spayed.

Maggie is an extremely friendly girl who has quickly made herself comfortable with everyone here. ❤️
