🚨 Know When & How to Call 9-1-1 🚨
Prince George’s County Public Safety Communications reminds residents:
✅ Call 9-1-1 for:
• Emergencies needing police, fire, or medical response
• Crimes in progress or threats to life/safety
📱 Text 9-1-1 if:
• You’re deaf, hard of hearing or you are unable to speak.
• You’re in danger and can’t speak
• A medical emergency makes speaking difficult.
🧠 When calling 9-1-1:
• Stay calm and be ready to share your location and details of the emergency.
• Listen carefully—call takers will ask questions and give life-saving instructions
• You are the eyes and ears until help arrives
📊 How the system works:
911 call takers gather information, dispatchers dispatch the nearest available responders, and call takers stay on the line if needed—coordinating efforts every step of the way.
📞 Dial 9-1-1 for emergencies only.
Every second counts. Make the right call.
