Upper Cape Tech was honored to welcome a distinguished group of state, regional, and local leaders to campus for a closer look at the opportunities available to our students.
Guests included Commissioner of Education Pedro Martinez, representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Executive Office of Education, MassHire Cape and Islands Workforce Board, the Office of Senator Dylan Fernandes, and leaders from the Town of Marion.
Throughout the visit, guests toured the school, met with students and staff, and saw career and technical education in action. In Marine Technology, they watched a demonstration of cutting-edge laser technology and learned how students are preparing for evolving industries. They also viewed progress on our new technical facility and lab modernization project, which will bring expanded learning space, welding booths, advanced equipment, a virtual reality lab, and other industry-standard technology to campus.
Our Student Ambassadors and SkillsUSA students shared their own experiences at UCT and spoke about how their technical programs, leadership opportunities, and school community are helping prepare them for college, careers, apprenticeships, and continued education.
The visit also highlighted our Culinary Arts program, where students prepared an impressive lunch and beautifully presented desserts. Guests saw recent Skills Capital Culinary Grant improvements as well, including the new pizza oven and expanded outdoor dining area nearing completion.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to visit, speak with our students, and learn more about the work happening at Upper Cape Tech.
