Are you ready? Looks like a lovely day to serve the island ecosystem tomorrow, Saturday, August 8

Reach out to the volunteer leaders at [email protected] to express your interest or desire to join in

The group will meet at the Island View Parking Lot in Kankakee River State Park at 9:45, go across to the island to work (bring a lunch and water to drink), and plan on coming back by around 2:00

Our next eco-restoration day is Saturday, July 25th.

Let’s meet at Island View Parking Lot at 9:45. No experience necessary. Bring plenty of water, food, and appropriately layered work clothes including long pants and long sleeves. Knee-high rubber boots help but are not strictly needed.

Here's a plant-nerdy bit of news (who's a plant nerd on here? 🙋🏻🙋🏻‍♂️)

The very pretty halberd-leaved rosemallow 🌺 that grows along the Kankakee River, not only on Langham Island but along many stretches of the river shoreline, has a new scientific name (Muenchhusia laevis - try pronouncing that 🙊)

We won’t be venturing forth to Langham Island on Thursday, June 18, due to river conditions. Our cutoff point for crossing the river is 10,000 cubic feet/second, and we are sitting at 16,000 now
