🚸 SLOW DOWN! Our Kids Are Counting on You! 🚸

As children walk to and from school, we would like to remind all drivers to slow down, stay alert, and put the distractions away!

A few important reminders:
• Obey posted speed limits, especially in school zones.
• Always yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
• Put your phone down and keep your eyes on the road.
• Watch for children crossing streets or walking near parked cars.
• Stop for school buses - it’s the law.

No appointment, text message, or destination is worth putting a child's life at risk.

Let's work together to keep Bound Brook's streets safe for our children!

𝐴 𝑁𝘦𝑤 𝐶𝘩𝑎𝘱𝑡𝘦𝑟 𝑓𝘰𝑟 𝑡𝘩𝑒 𝐵𝘰𝑢𝘯𝑑 𝐵𝘳𝑜𝘰𝑘 𝑃𝘰𝑙𝘪𝑐𝘦 𝘋𝑒𝘱𝑎𝘳𝑡𝘮𝑒𝘯𝑡!

Last night, during the Bound Brook Borough Council meeting, we proudly celebrated the swearing-in of Chief of Police Jesse Schwartz and Captain Peter Romanyszyn!

Both Chief Schwartz and Captain Romanyszyn have dedicated their careers to serving the residents of Bound Brook, demonstrating exceptional leadership, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to our department and the community we proudly serve.

Throughout their careers, both have taken on numerous responsibilities, pursued opportunities for professional development, and worked tirelessly to strengthen our department. Their experience, accomplishments, and dedication to the law enforcement profession have earned them the respect and confidence of their fellow officers and the community.

Beyond their individual accomplishments, both understand that the strength of a police department lies in its people, the relationships we build, and the trust we earn from those we serve.

As we turn the page and begin this exciting new chapter in the history of the Bound Brook Police Department, we are confident that their leadership, vision, and commitment to excellence will continue to move our department forward while building upon the strong foundation established by those who came before them.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Schwartz and Captain Romanyszyn on their well-deserved promotions! We look forward to the future of the Bound Brook Police Department under their leadership!

Today is a bittersweet day for the Bound Brook Police Department as we say goodbye to two members of our family - Chief Jason Gianotto and K9 Crusader.

Chief Gianotto retires after 25 years of dedicated service to the Borough of Bound Brook. During his career, he served our community in countless capacities, including assignments with the Somerset County Dive Team, Somerset County SWAT Team, and Narcotics Task Force, before ultimately having the honor of leading the Bound Brook Police Department as Chief of Police.

But a career like Chief Gianotto’s can’t simply be measured in years, titles, or assignments. His fingerprints are everywhere in this department. The programs he helped build, the officers he mentored, the decisions he made, and the countless things he did behind the scenes have helped shape BBPD into the department it is today.

And there is something especially fitting about the fact that he gets to close this chapter alongside his longtime partner.

After 12 years of loyal service, K9 Crusader is retiring too.

Chief Gianotto and Crusader spent years working side by side, answering calls, assisting officers and other agencies, locating suspects and narcotics, and doing the kind of work that most people will never get to see. Their partnership became a familiar part of BBPD, and Crusader became much more than a police K9, he became part of our family and part of the Bound Brook community.

For many of us, it is difficult to imagine this department without Chief Gianotto, or Crusader running around HQ looking to play fetch with anyone willing to touch that slobbery red Kong!

Today, however, isn’t just about saying goodbye. It’s about saying thank you.

Thank you, Chief, for 25 years of leadership, sacrifice, friendship, and unwavering dedication to Bound Brook.

And thank you, Crusader, for 12 years of loyal and faithful service alongside your partner.

You both leave behind a legacy that will continue long after your final shift.

From all of us at the Bound Brook Police Department, congratulations on your retirement, Chief Gianotto and K9 Crusader.

Two partners. Two incredible careers. One well-earned retirement.

𝑳𝑰𝑭𝑬𝑺𝑨𝑽𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑻𝑬𝑨𝑴𝑾𝑶𝑹𝑲

This past weekend, officers Bozzomo, Rodriguez, and Eckerson responded to an emergency call and quickly discovered an individual trapped beneath a vehicle after the jacks supporting it failed, causing the vehicle to collapse onto his chest.

Recognizing the immediate life-threatening danger, our officers sprang into action. Working alongside EMS Chief Lapotaski and several Good Samaritans, they were able to physically lift the vehicle high enough for the victim to be pulled from underneath and turned over to EMS for emergency medical care.

In a situation where every second mattered, the quick thinking, composure, and teamwork displayed by everyone involved was nothing short of remarkable. There is little doubt that their actions saved this individual’s life.

We are incredibly proud of Officers Bozzomo, Rodriguez, and Eckerson and grateful to EMS Chief Lapotaski for his immediate involvement in the rescue.

We also need our community’s help! Several Good Samaritans assisted our officers and EMS personnel in lifting the vehicle. We would like to identify each of them so they can be formally thanked and recognized for their role in saving a life.

If you were one of those individuals, or know someone who assisted, please contact the Bound Brook Police Department.

This is what teamwork, courage, and community look like.
