🚨 On 9/22, the BVSD Board votes on the “Resilient Schools Proposal” - and it doesn’t solve the enrollment problem.
It closes schools now and leaves the door open to close more across Boulder Valley in the years ahead, with no clear criteria for which ones or when. That’s not a plan, it’s a precedent: any school, closed at any time, regardless of performance.
Boulder Valley’s public school kids deserve a comprehensive plan and real stability, not this.

Location change for Tuesday’s meeting! Now at Monarch High School.

The Boulder Valley School District Board of Education will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, September 8 at Monarch High School to provide greater seating and parking capacity.

This meeting is the first opportunity for public comment, following the presentation of the Resilient Schools proposal on August 25.

Board of Education Meeting - Resilient Schools Public Comment
When: Tuesday, September 8, starting at 5 p.m.
Where: Monarch High School Auditorium, 329 Campus Drive in Louisville

While the meeting is moving to a new venue, it will still begin, as planned at 5 p.m.

We encourage meeting participants to be mindful and respectful of the students and school community, as normal after school activities will continue as originally planned, during the meeting.

Douglass Elementary has stood for nearly 75 years. It’s the Dolphin Wall where generations of kids have run into their parents’ arms after school. It’s a graduation where teachers stand up and tell each child what makes them irreplaceable. It’s decades-long teachers who know these kids and these families; showing up every day for the 20% of our students with IEPs and every child in our ICAN program who needs consistency to feel safe.⁣⁣⁣

Our school board was given a plan that is short-sighted and does not add up. They need to hear that.This plan won’t fill schools. It will displace kids from their neighborhood school so another one can move in, leaving Douglass families with no guaranteed seat, only a lottery, at the school they’ve always called home.⁣⁣⁣
