The Chenango Canal Association needs your help! Diane is looking for a volunteer assistant for one of several projects. It could involve some posting on social media, writing an article, phone calling to organize volunteers and helping to set up an event. This can be divided up depending on your skills. We work with college students and other volunteers to keep the Towpath Trail open to the public. And we're fun to work with! Please call 315-729-8323 or PM Diane.

Canal Clean Sweep on the Chenango Canal Towpath Trail for Earth Day, April 20th -- Twelve volunteers picked up trash along four miles of Canal Road and the Towpath Trail today. They also got a peak at the newly renovated Cottage Museum, Bouckville. We still have pictures to hang and will let you know when it is open.

We need your help for the Chenango Canal Association. We are looking for volunteer ambassadors for the canal...people who want to help out once in a while or for a single project. We have trail work; electrical, building, stairway and patio replacement & maintenance; events to help set up; organizing; history & nature presenters at our June 4th grade field school and a large pumpkin display to set up in October. Handling all of this is a lot but one project is doable. This picture is of Hamilton College students coming in for a Trail Day. We also rely on COVE at Colgate to recruit volunteers and need supervisors August-October. It's fun to be at these events! Call Diane 315-729-8323.

While all events had to be postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we still have a beautiful 5-mile trail to walk between Bouckville and Hamilton. Plus another 2 1/2 miles throughout the village of Hamilton between the airport and College Street. It connects to the abandoned railroad bed. Many unusual birds, turtles, frogs and flowers are sited at Woodman Pond. It is refreshing to go outdoors. The police force has a firing range near Woodman Pond, so watch for signs they may be practicing. Some of the trail near the airport is wet. You can access it on Montgomery Street, Hamilton; Woodman Road; Rt. 46 & Canal Road; Canal Road, Bouckville next to the Bouckville Mill and north of Rt. 20; and the corner of Canal Road & Elm St, Bouckville. Bring your family for a peaceful walk!
