We are excited to welcome back fly fishing experts Chris and Alecia Pulver. They will be sharing their fly fishing knowledge and skills with park visitors during two upcoming events. Don't miss this opportunity to learn something new, refine skills, or simply spend some time with us in the great outdoors!

LMSP Day Camp - Fly Fishing (12-17 YO)
Date: Thursday, June 18
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Cost: $40
Registration deadline: June 8
Participants will learn the basics of fly fishing and have the opportunity to fish along the shoreline at Lake Metigoshe State Park. All equipment is provided, and lunch is included.

LMSP Fly & Tie Workshop (Age 14 - Adult), age 12 if registering with adult
Dates: June 20–21 (Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 8am-2pm)
Cost: $125
Registration deadline: June 7
Participants will learn how to tie their own flies and practice basic fly fishing skills at Lake Metigoshe. Registration includes fly-tying materials and use of fishing equipment, including rods, vises, and waders. Fishing licenses are waived for this educational workshop through support from the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.

Update - This cabin has been reserved - thanks!

We are currently showing availability for Slemmen cabin July 4-7. This accessible is a full-service cabin located adjacent to multiple trail access points, making it easy to enjoy outdoor recreation during every season.

The cabin rents for $135 per night Sunday through Thursday and $150 per night on Friday and Saturday. A two-night minimum stay is required.

The cabin includes one bedroom with a queen-size bed, three futons that fold into queen-size sleeping areas, a furnished kitchen, a 3/4 bathroom, free WiFi, a gas fireplace, charcoal grill, fire ring, and picnic table.

Guests staying at the cabin must bring their own bedding, pillows, towels, washcloths, and personal toiletries.

Pets are not allowed in any North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department rental facilities.

There are many things to see on School Section Lake. This week there were cormorants, buffleheads, teals, pelicans, painted turtles, swans, geese, and red-necked grebes. The grebes have established their aquatic nests and started to lay eggs. Stayed tuned for updates!

It's Knot Your Average Weekend - Weekend Programs. Join us this weekend for these programs, which are free and open to the public with paid state park entrance.

Friday, May 29
7pm Kayaking Adventures
Meet at the School Section Lake kayak launch, down the trail from the warming house, to learn the basics and head out on School Section Lake for a leisurely paddle adventure. Equipment is provided. Participants need to be at least 8 years of age; those under 18 need to attend with parent/guardian.

Saturday, May 30
10am Tied Up
We’ll tie up loose ends at the amphtiheater whether you want to make a survival bracelet or learn a few knots that will help you secure a kayak, catch a fish, and more!

We have three picnic shelters available for park visitors to enjoy along the Lake Metigoshe shoreline. These shelters are first come, first serve unless they are reserved ahead of time.

Shelter Options:
• Aspen Shelter (largest) — $75/day
• Birch Shelter — $25/day
• Oak Shelter — $25/day
Reservation fees apply.

Picnic shelters are great for:
• Birthday parties, family reunions, and group gatherings
• Ensuring you have a dry space when showers are in forecast
• Shady spot out of the hot sun during long summer days

Reserving a shelter can simply secure a space on a busy day at the park - did we mention Aspen, the largest shelter, is currently available for July 3? Aspen is adjacent to a playground and in close proximity to the beach and comfort station.

There's just a few spots left in our June 24 Wet & Wild Day Camp for youth ages 9–12.

Campers will:
• Put on waders and explore a wetland
• Use dip nets to identify aquatic critters
• Test water quality
• Use the Enviroscape to watch water move through a watershed
• Learn how to kayak along the shoreline of School Section Lake
• Enjoy supervised free time to splash and swim at the beach - bring swimwear!

This camp takes place 9am-4pm on June 24. Lunch is provided. Participants must be the described age at the time of camp.

Participation is limited - there's only a few spots are available.

Calling all outdoor enthusiasts and adventure seekers!

Hike, bike, canoe, or kayak your way to Osprey Cabin and enjoy a backcountry getaway righ here at Lake Metigoshe State Park!

Osprey Cabin is located about 2 miles out on the trail system and offers beautiful year-round views of Eramosh Lake.

Cabin details:
• $70 per night Sunday through Thursday
• $85 per night Fridays and Saturdays
• Two-night minimum stay required

Amenities include:
• Solar-powered overhead lights
• Wood-burning stove (split wood provided)
• Mattresses
• Outdoor fire ring
• Picnic table

Please note:
• This is a primitive cabin with no electricity or running water
• Pets are not allowed in ND Parks & Recreation Department rental facilities
