【台美教育再加碼】台灣羅德島州教育合作備忘錄續約！駐美俞大㵢大使夫婦出席見證台美教育合作新成果
中華民國教育部與羅德島州高等教育合作備忘錄於9月3日在羅州政府大樓舉行續約簽署儀式，羅州州長 Dan McKee、駐美國代表俞大使大㵢夫婦與駐波士頓辦事處廖處長朝宏共同出席見證，當日由羅州高等教育廳廳長 Shannon Gilkey 代表羅州簽署備忘錄，我國教育部國際及兩岸教育司李毓娟司長代表異地簽署。
俞大使致詞強調，台灣持續擴大對美國的投資，台美也持續攜手培育人工智慧供應鏈等關鍵領域人才。羅州擁有優質的大學與高等教育資源，期待此次續簽能進一步促進雙方在華語文教育及人才培育等領域更多交流合作，為雙方培育更多優秀青年人才。
駐波士頓辦事處另於會場舉辦慶祝美國建國 250 週年及台灣直選總統 30 週年茶會活動，彰顯台美基於對自由、民主及法治共享價值，持續深化雙方在教育領域的夥伴關係。
會場提供台灣特色的珍奶、鹽酥雞及滷肉飯，不僅讓出席美國友人體驗台灣美食文化，也讓旅羅台灣師生重溫家鄉味道。
包括羅州副州長Sabina Matos、羅州參議會代議長兼教育委員會主席Hanna Galo、眾議會代議長Brian Patrick Kennedy、州眾議員Jon Brien等多位政府官員與駐波士頓辦事處教育組黃薳玉組長，羅德島大學及布朗大學等校代表與師生，以及羅州華人協會共主席葉超（Louis Yip）、吳子平（Sunny Ng）等僑領近60人出席，會場氣氛熱鬧。
從教育交流到人才培育，台灣與羅州持續攜手，為台美合作寫下新的篇章！
【Strengthening Taiwan–U.S. Education Partnerships】Taiwan and Rhode Island Renew Postsecondary Education MOU
On September 3, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the State of Rhode Island renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on postsecondaryeducation cooperation at the Rhode Island State House. Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee, ROC Taiwan’s Representative to the United States Ambassador Alexander Tah-Ray Yui and Madame Karen Lo, and Director-General Charles Liao of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston joined the ceremony to witness this important milestone.
Commissioner Shannon Gilkey of the RI Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner signed the MOU on behalf of Rhode Island, while Director-General Joyce Yu-Jiuan Lee of the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education at Taiwan’s Ministry of Education signed on behalf of Taiwan.
In his remarks, Ambassador Yui highlighted that Taiwan continues to expand its investments in the United States, and the importance of working together to develop talent in critical fields, including artificial intelligence and advanced supply chains. With its outstanding universities and higher education resources, Rhode Island is an important partner for Taiwan. The renewed MOU will further expand exchanges and cooperation in Mandarin-language education, talent development, and other areas of mutual interest, help nurture the next generation of outstanding young talent on both sides.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston also hosted a reception at the State House celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence and the 30th anniversary of Taiwan’s first direct presidential election. The event highlighted the shared values of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law that continue to serve as a strong foundation for the deepening Taiwan–U.S. partnership in education.
Guests were also treated to popular Taiwanese favorites, including bubble tea, popcorn chicken, and braised pork rice. The food not only gave our American friends a taste of Taiwan’s vibrant culinary culture but also offered Taiwanese students and educators in Rhode Island a taste of home.
Nearly 60 guests attended the event, including Rhode Island Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos; Senate President Pro Tempore and Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Education Hanna Gallo; House Speaker Brian Patrick Kennedy; State Representative Jon Brien; Director Cynthia Huang of the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston; representatives, faculty, and students from the University of Rhode Island and Brown University; as well as community leaders, including Chairman Louis Yip and President Sunny Ng of the Rhode Island Association of Chinese American.
From educational exchange to talent development, Taiwan and Rhode Island are building a stronger partnership and opening a new chapter in Taiwan–U.S. cooperation!
