Death Investigation in the Area of 12 Beauford Lane, Dorchester

At about 10:26 PM, on Friday, October 23, 2026, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 12 Beauford Lane, Dorchester.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle. The victim was pronounced deceased on scene.

The Boston Police Department’s Homicide Unit is actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact the Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.

Three Summonsed and Seven Mopeds and Motorcycles Towed as Part of Operation Kickstand in Downtown

At about 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) conducted Operation Kickstand, a targeted scooter, moped, and motorcycle enforcement initiative throughout Downtown.

This initiative was undertaken in response to continuing public safety and quality-of-life concerns associated with the increased presence and unlawful operation of scooters and mopeds within the district.

Throughout the initiative, officers issued three criminal summonses, eleven civil citations, and fourteen parking violations, and towed seven mopeds and motorcycles.

The Boston Police Department remains committed to improving traffic safety and will continue to conduct enforcement operations across the city.

Members of the BPD Command Staff and officers from District E-13 joined members of the Jamaica Plain community at the Julia Martin House for a day of worship and fellowship.

Our officers helped serve lunch and joined attendees in prayer, while the BPD Band provided the soundtrack for the day, bringing everyone together with live music.

Thank you to the Julia Martin House for this opportunity to continue to build trust with those we serve!

Walking together to raise awareness!

Members of the Bureau of Community Engagement joined members of the community in the PANS/PANDAS Awareness Walk on Boston Common.

More than 600 participants came together to raise funds and awareness for Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS/PANDAS). The BPD Ice Cream Truck (thanks to HP Hood and the Boston Police Foundation) and Copper, the BPD Comfort Dog, were also on hand to greet participants and share in the day's activities.

Officers from District B-3 joined local & state representatives, city employees, and community members to discuss quality-of-life concerns throughout Dorchester and Mattapan.

The group walked together, identifying areas of concern and discussing strategies to help keep residents safe.

Officers from District E-5 patrolled the beat of West Roxbury and Roslindale in a BPD Gator decked out for Halloween.

Along the way, neighbors stopped to chat with our officers about their Halloween plans, snap a few photos, and even sign some pumpkins.

BPD Community Alert: District B-2 Detectives Seek To Identify Persons Of Interest In Larcenies In Roxbury.

Detectives assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individuals pictured in connection with a larceny from a building and package theft in the area of 476 Warren Street.

The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman Samuel Reynolds Who Was Killed in the Line of Duty 55 Years Ago.

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Patrolman Samuel Reynolds who was killed in the line of duty on this day 55 years ago. On Friday, October 22, 1971, Patrolman Samuel Reynolds succumbed to gunshot wounds sustained the day before in the area of 89 Bickford Avenue while attempting to stop a vehicle related to a burglary.

Patrolman Reynolds was 33-years-old at the time of his death and he was survived by his wife and two children.

Patrolman Reynolds is buried at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, MA. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C., Panel 47, West, Line 32. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.

In Boston, a Hero Sign has been placed in his honor in the area of Bromley-Heath. The sign is to forever honor the memory of a man who gave his life in service to his city. If you ever find yourself in the area and you happen to see his Hero Sign, kindly take a moment to honor and acknowledge the service and sacrifice of a brave man who died protecting and serving his city.
