It was great to join a packed room of active-duty Coast Guard personnel and veterans during a visit to the U. S. Coast Guard Base Boston recently.

Secretary Goralnick shared information about how EOVS supports veterans and their families across Massachusetts and had the chance to connect directly with Coasties in attendance.

On 9/11, a day that centers what’s at stake when our service members choose to defend our freedoms, Secretary Goralnick joined the New England Center and Home for Veterans, Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭, Boston Vets, and VA Boston Healthcare System for the Greater Boston Stand Down for Veterans, where he spoke about our shared commitment to ensuring every veteran has access to the support, resources, and opportunities they’ve earned.

The annual Stand Down brings together more than 90 federal, state, local, and community organizations to connect veterans and their families—particularly those experiencing or at risk of homelessness—with critical services.

From housing and benefits assistance to health care, employment support, legal services, and more, today is about meeting veterans where they are and connecting them with the resources they need.

On the 25th anniversary of September 11th, Secretary Goralnick joined Home Base, Project 351, and volunteers on the Rose Kennedy Greenway for their annual 9/11 Service Project.

Governor Maura Healey, Senator Edward J. Markey, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Ambassador Kennedy, and State Representative Joe McGonagle spoke with volunteers who honored the lives lost and the service of so many by turning remembrance into action—building care packages for those who are serving overseas, local veterans in need, and writing messages of support to our troops.

We’re grateful to Home Base and Project 351 for bringing people together on this National Day of Service and Remembrance and creating a meaningful opportunity to give back to those who serve.

EOVS recently joined the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to welcome a steel beam from the World Trade Center to the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial in Boston.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of September 11th on Friday, we remember the lives lost, the civilians and first responders who risked their lives to help others, and the veterans who answered the call to serve in the years that followed.

May this piece of history help future generations carry forward the stories of courage, sacrifice, and resilience from that day and beyond.

We will never forget.

EOVS’ Statewide Advocacy for Veterans Empowerment (SAVE) program provides community-based peer support, outreach, case management, and su***de prevention services to veterans across the Commonwealth.

SAVE team members work to help veterans access benefits and services to find resources that support their overall mental health and well-being.

Deputy Secretary Andrea Gayle-Bennett joined Mass DCR along with state and local leaders in The City of Lynn to celebrate the start of a $15.6 million transformation of Lynn Veterans Memorial Park.

This investment will strengthen an important community space that honors our veterans while creating more opportunities for residents and families to enjoy Lynn’s waterfront.
