Back-to-school season isn’t just about heading back to the classroom—it’s also about where learning can lead. 🎓

This summer, Bristol Community College and North Shore Community College became the first colleges to graduate cohorts from training supported by MassCEC’s Heat Pump and HVAC Training Network.

They made it happen in partnership with local vocational-technical schools: Bristol with Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, and NSCC with Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School, Lynn Vocational Technical Institute, and Salem High School.

STEAM the Streets is helping change that by bringing offshore wind careers directly to young people through school experiences, digital storytelling, and real-world voices from the industry.

With support from MassCEC’s Offshore Wind Works program, STEAM the Streets is helping expand access to offshore wind career awareness, particularly for young people from communities historically underrepresented in the industry.

For students, internships offer hands-on experience, exposure to clean energy careers, and valuable professional connections. For employers, they’re a chance to bring in emerging talent and help build the future workforce.

With support from MassCEC’s Clean Energy Internship Program, 621 Energy, LLC hired Selma Moutaouakkil for an internship that gave both the employer and intern a chance to learn, contribute, and grow.

Getting hands-on can make a future in clean energy feel a lot more real. ⚡🌊

This summer, high school students spent a week at Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the KidWind Project Offshore Wind Academy, putting clean energy concepts into practice through designing, building, testing, and learning alongside professionals working in the field.

Operated by Self-Reliance with support from MassCEC’s Offshore Wind Works program, the Academy gives students early exposure to offshore wind and other clean energy technologies, and a closer look at the range of STEM and clean energy careers available to them.

See the school buses here? They’re all electric. 🚌⚡

And for students at Fall River Public Schools and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, electric transportation is about to become part of the everyday trip to and from school.

In Fall River, 10 new electric school buses are ready to begin service this school year, marking the first step in a broader transition to an electric school bus fleet. Another 10 electric buses will soon serve students at Cape Cod Regional Tech.

Both efforts are supported through MassCEC’s Electric School Bus Program, helping communities make the shift to cleaner school transportation.
