At the heart of Family Nurturing Center’s work is the belief that parenting is learned and that parents are most successful in nurturing their children when they feel competent in their skills, connected to others, and nurtured themselves by the support of a caring community. With insight and practice, all mothers, fathers, and caregivers can recognize their strengths and become effective teachers, listeners, and sources of guidance and stability. Children raised in nurturing environments are much more likely to have positive lifelong physical, emotional, and academic outcomes.

Handmade with care and full of color—we are so grateful to The Proper Bostonian Quilters for these beautiful quilts, burp cloths, and hats 🧵

They'll soon be tucked into our Welcome Baby gift bags alongside an outfit, board book, toy, other essential items, and connections to community resources to support and celebrate local families with newborns.

Today, FNC Hyde Park welcomed Cummings Foundation volunteer Patti Keenan, who stopped by to share the exciting news that FNC was awarded $50,000 in Cummings MAD$ to support our work with families, especially parenting education!

We'd like to give a big thank you to Patti Keenan and the Cummings Foundation for their continued investment in FNC's work.

For the past ten years (and counting!), Family Nurturing Center of MA has partnered with The Basics to help teach parents across Boston the importance of maximizing love and managing stress, talking and singing, counting, exploring through movement and play, and reading together.

This week, long-time friend of Family Nurturing Center, Dr. Ron Ferguson, co-authored an op-ed in the Boston Herald focused on how every child has two classrooms: the one they attend, and the one they come home to: Gaskin and Ferguson: Every child has two classrooms. Thanks to the Basics for the shout-out, and for many years of partnership!

Last night, FNC celebrated our latest Nurturing Parenting® Program graduates in Dorchester 🎉

Families gathered for a bilingual ceremony to receive certificates, have dinner together, and reflect on 14 weeks of hard work and personal growth. Parents and children shared their own stories: moments of courage and vulnerability, lessons learned, but above all, the gratitude for how far they'd come together as a family.

To our facilitators: thank you for your hard work, creativity, and dedication, week after week 🩷

This Father's Day, we're still celebrating something that happened earlier this week 👏

On June 17, FNC was recognized for our work through the Nurturing Fathers' Program and our commitment to strengthening fatherhood engagement and family connections across Massachusetts at the Black Fathers Celebration hosted by the Office of Black Male Advancement, with Mayor Michelle Wu 吳弭 in attendance.

John O'Neil, Director of FNC's Nurturing Fathers' Program, accepted the award on FNC's behalf. John has dedicated his career to bringing this 13-week, evidence-based program to fathers across Massachusetts, helping them recognize their strengths, build confidence as parents, and deepen their relationships with their children—and training hundreds of facilitators who now carry that work into communities across the state through a partnership with DCF.

In his remarks, John spoke about the lasting influence fathers have in shaping their children's lives. There's no better day than today to honor that truth. Happy Father's Day to all fathers, facilitators, and fatherhood figures doing this work every day!

At FNC, meeting families and providers where they are means making sure language is never a barrier.

With support from Office of Black Male Advancement, we were recently able to offer our 3-Day Nurturing Fathers' Facilitator Training virtually, facilitated in Spanish by native speakers.

On Friday, Jun 5, FNC and the Greater Boston Fathers & Family Network co-hosted the 2026 Nurturing Fathers' Institute.

New and seasoned Nurturing Fathers' Program facilitators and other providers from in and around Massachusetts came together at our Dorchester headquarters for a day of connection and learning—featuring a plenary panel, keynote speaker "Mathematics", data-driven presentations, and plenty of networking.

Thank you to the Department of Children and Families, the Boston Mayor's Office of Black Male Advancement, and the Children's Trust for making this year's NFI a major success! 🙌

Meet the FNC Mocha Nut ☕❤️

This June, FNC is The Well Coffee House's nonprofit partner of the month, and they've created the FNC Mocha Nut just for us. It's an iced pistachio mocha with salted pistachio cold foam and mocha drizzle. Our twist on a Dubai Chocolate bar, and not only is it delicious, but 20% of all FNC Mocha Nut sales and all donated tips come directly to Family Nurturing Center.
